so the draft is march 28 @ what time? is everyone going to make it? lets try to get all 12 managers present
I'll post this here as well, I am requesting that holds be tossed, it just ruins the pitching side of fantasy baseball, throws player value out the window. Walks would be a great replacement, and would prevent the waiver pitcher whoring strategy.
so your one of those people who disregard the impotance of a good set up man in baseball? should they be left out of the allstar game maybe even the hall of fame?this is what fantasy players from seasons past once said above saves.now closer is one of the most important positions. but hey its up to the league.and we already have whip why would you want walks?
Well, if you remove a stat from pitching, you have to either add one to balance it out, or subtract one from hitting and go with standard 5x5 scoring. Adding walks would be a benefit in that people could not abuse the waiver strategy (When you know you are going to lose ERA/WHIP... picking up/cutting 3-4 pitchers a day to whore wins and K's)... because it would be another negative category built up by doing so. Holds makes the setup man completely equal to the closer. Another type of player I have to have on my roster just to get one category. There are only 2 RP and 2 P categories.. I'm going to have to decide to either punt a category, or how to divide those among single-stat players? K/9 could be a valid stat to add as well, awards efficient pitchers.
very good points soss. if we eliminate HLD I would like to replace it with something else. b/c I don't want to lose un base%
A proposal has been forward by house Mantana to remove holds and add k/9. Each house must vote on said proposal. Majority vote wins.
^ you have 2 P spots so what's the problem. Walks wouldn't prevent me from whoring the waivers when I can get 2 points(Wins & K's) for 1 just like in basketball f the turnovers when I'm beating you in blocks and assists.
Yes but you're screwing THREE categories to try and take two. Not exactly motivating. I am usually a big saves hound and this just destroys my entire foundation for managing a fantasy baseball team. (I've played 4 leagues a year for 4-5 yrs now)
I usually keep middle guys on the team to help with whip and era anyways. Saves is usually the one category that I throw away.
Not in fantasy baseball, no way. You guys are the only group out of 20+ leagues I've played so far to use Holds. It's a stat that barely exists, has a screwy formula, and has only been around a couple yrs.
