After several attempts, I've successfully bet myself down to $1. It took the coin flip to do it. Now the thing is to see if I can work my vcabbage from $1 to $1000. The toughest bet is the first one. It's the only one that can wipe me out.
Yeah, you have to be a betting genius like Yisman to get out of such a hole here at TGG. I lost 1,000 or so fake dollars on a Packers-Bears game in 2008 (by either .5 or 1.5 points if I recall correctly) and I have never recovered.
Every NFL game is posted every week. There were plenty of betting opportunities available. We responded to your request. That's just not how betting works. This particular thread had a number of betting options with long shot odds that you could have bet on as we suggested in your request thread.
Again, you have to be pretty darn good to get out of a hole (hole being defined here as having less than 100 dollars). Often times this season I'd bet on 4 or 5 games a week. Most times I would get 2 or 3 correct and it wouldn't really get me anywhere.
I managed to dig out of the hole (from zero) and get up over 3k, then fall back into the hole during that time. As far as starting from $1, that sounds like quite the challenge if your intent is to not get reloaded to $25 if you lose at any point and always start from the floor of $1. Obviously you have to get the first one correct to get to $2. Then I assume you'd bet $1 instead of the $2 to avoid hitting 0 and getting bumped to 25. If you won those 2 consecutive bets to get to $3, you could then bump your bet up to $2 at the risk of leaving yourself at the must win $1 starting point. It just seems like more of a pain in the ass than anything to me.
Against the NFL spreads I began the year 82-88-7. I then went 62-28-1 to close out the season (54-25-1 RS; 8-3 PS). So I had this great stretch but I could only get out to as high as 287 vCash. In November I was constantly hovering around 25. When the Week 13 games were posted, I couldn't do much. Maybe put 10 on one game, 8 on another, and 7 on another. If I only hit on 1 or 2, it wouldn't help all that much. I'll have to get to 500 before I feel somewhat comfortable. There are no prizes to be won, so for me the challenge of this is getting to four digits. My point was that it is not easy.
When you're at 25, it doesn't make much sense (to me) to split the bets up. Bet the entire 25 on one game to try and double up. If you lose you get 25 back. I use the same theory at 50. There's not much point in betting 25 and losing when you could bet 50 and end up with the same amount. What I did was get to 100, then started betting 50 until I got up to 1000. Once I got up to 1000 I changed my bets to 100. Of course then I got cocky about a game (picked Ravens over Steelers in the regular season) and put my entire bankroll on it and ended up at zero again. I have 90 right now because I dropped my entire 25 on a parlay and got a 13/5 payout.
considering the free reload, the obvious strategy is to go all in the first few bets until you hit at least a few hundred. 25 to 50 to 100 to 200 to 400, at which point you might start getting more conservative. edit: I just went back and looked, and that's not exactly what I did back then. I guess I wasn't being very logical after I won the first bet.
