I would love to go to this game, either way its going to be remembered and talked about because the result of this game will likely be the lasting image of Peyton Manning. If he wins, people will point back to this game as his greatest moment, while if he loses, it could be his last Super Bowl he plays in.
I would disagree. I do think he tends to get a little overrated b/c of the SB wins his last 2 years but I think he was vastly underrated before the 2 SB wins. Boomer and Kosar are nowhere near Elway
Probably not, he would move up in my top 10 all time but I don't think he passes those QBs unless he does something incredible. it's hard to say w/o seeing the game. we are kind of splitting hairs w/ all these great QBs but something has to separate them. when I "bash" Peyton it's not saying he isn't an all time great, just separating the greats.
sorry, you don't get to turn this around on anyone. you were begging for recognition and applaud for making two predictions that were the easiest predictions to make, and got called on it. you couldn't defend your position so you attempted to deflect that and claim I have some agenda against you, rather than the fact that you just make asinine posts. your only defense was to take some quote from two years ago (which further reflects how pathetic you are, that you have either been holding onto that post for years or took the time to look through my entire post history to find something to criticize -- who is infatuated with who?), and then not even grasp the meaning of what was actually said. the irony being that you then attempted to claim I was digging up old claims of yours to criticize when that was, in fact, what you were doing.
Not really, I grade him higher based on the SBs he lost than the ones he won. He took mediocre talent to 3 SBs, he never had the talent around him that Peyton had on a consistent basis and when he did come close he won 2 SBs. I judge based on what QBs do w/ the teams around them, manning has had SB caliber talent around him pretty much since day 1 and only has 3 apps and 1 win(obviously could change to 2). marino never had the talent around him, Elway only a few years, Montana won 2 SBs w/o Jerry Rice and all the offensive talent, Brady won 3 w/ Troy Brown as his #1. That's why I rate those guys ahead.
No one knows what Harrison's career looks like without Peyton. Edgerrin James too. I'm not going to prop Elway up because of the perceived lack of talent or diminish Peyton because he played with talent. Frankly, Peyton was the biggest reason Harrison has a chance to go to the HOF and Egde had the career he did. Elway's career as a passer isnt even close to Peyton's. Peyton's defense's were never that good either. And for the record, Denver's receiving core in the 80's didnt stink. The AFC was the JV back then though.
Stevie Wonder could look at those guys and see the immense talent. Peyton is great, he helps make players better but they help make him better too. Elway played in a completely different era and had half the talent around him. Denver's WR corps was decent, nothing special. In the 80s he never had a Harrison, Wayne, garcon, Clark, Addai, Edge, etc...
absolutely not, Peyton would get the most out of those guys like Elway did but again completely different era. Transport Peyton back to the 80s and he wouldn't be putting up 2013 #s. give Elway Harrison, Wayne, Edge, etc... and I guarantee he has more than 1 SB win.
he makes SBs, he never would have beaten NYG, Was or SF. the AFC was weak then(in case you missed it was weak this year too) but the NFC wasn't. he never got to face a Rex Grossman led team in the SB.
are you comparing Chris Chandler to Rex grossman? Chris Chandler was a damn good QB, just couldn't stay healthy. Not a HOfer like when he led his team to a win over Favre and GB but not rex Grossman.
Chandler was average. You put too much stock into one game anyways. Chandler beat the Packers once...who cares?
