Huh where do you see that? From what I posted earlier and I'm reading there is a slight (maybe 55/45) split for the Seahawks. Also from the blurbs and long articles, the people picking the Seahawks feel more confident in their picks than Denver in my opinion.
I honestly have no preference who wins this SB...I actually think Russell Wilson is a terrific guy and I actually admire Peyton but I do not like Wes Welker much lol Would be funny if he went 0-3 in the Super Bowl.
I think it has to do with the fact that people bet/pick games based on who has the better QB. They also believe that the Broncos are kinda destined to win and they cant imagine seeing Peyton walking off the field as the loser. I dont blame em though, Im picking the Hawks and I have a really hard time picturing in my head, Manning with his head down in a Broncos uniform, walking off the field as the QB of the losing team. We are only a little over 48 hours away so we will get the answer soon.
I am surprised. I would expect you to root for Broncos just because all Patriot nation is probably rooting for Seattle due to Manning-Brady rivalry. I am taking a personal shot against you so please forgive me. But I think you want Seattle to win so your favorite Brady passes Manning on all time great list. Am I wrong or no? PS: I am rooting for Broncos but I think Seattle will win easily. I hope I am wrong and Manning can get his second ring and gain more leverage against pretty boy Brady.
Brady is ahead of him as of now even if manning wins on Sunday but yes that plays into it. The funny thing is I don't dislike Manning and I have many more reasons to root for him this week but I just can't.
Thanks for an honest answer. It might be because Manning prevented us reaching Superbow in 2010. I have some Jet friends hating him just for that reason but somehow I hate Brady so much, I tend to side with my enemy's enemy.
I do dislike Brady but I have incredible respect for him and what he has done, I have respect for Peyton too but he's always had much more talent around him and I saw Brady change a franchise. I can't wait until they both retire.
Wait what are you guys reading that favors Denver? I honestly must be missing something. Everything I'm seeing on twitter and reading on the internet right now leans slightly towards Seattle.
See I look at it differently. I hated Welker when he was on the Pats but always recognized how great he was. The fact that he left the Pats and can win a SB to me brings more pain to Chowdland so that figures into my rooting for Denver. That and I'd like to see Peyton leapfrog Brady in the great QB debate. Which IMHO he would. Go Broncos. It's the closest thing I have to rooting against the Pats. My 3 favorite teams are (i) the Jets, (ii) whomever is playing the Pats and (iii) the team that would bring the most pain to Pats fans. _
That Welker situation was so strange with NE. They could have used him even with Amendola. That's not hindsight, at the time everyone thought it was strange. I disliked Welker on the field, found him annoying, but he was a funny person out of Patriots off the field and had some funny comments to the media so I enjoyed him like that.
Was very weird, what with Brady taking the "paycut" so they could sign him? He's a great player, I'm glad he went to the Broncos rather than stay with the Pats. _
It's not even about replacing, it's just keeping another weapon. It wasn't Edelman/Amendola or Welker/Edelman. It could be all of the above. Well I think everyone kind of figured he would go to NO, GB, or DEN. I mean why go to a not top QB in the league.
but they are similar players, if they keep Welker then Edelman isn't nearly as productive, they needed a #1WR type. if they could bring in a Decker and keep Edelman that O will be unstoppable next year.
Not necessarily. Edelman could have filled in when Amendola was hurt/banged up instead of Austin Collie I guess? I don't remember. And Amendola had an injury problem going into the season so Edelman could have been great insurance for him. Very curious move made by them. And nobody had offered Edelman a contract anyways, so there was no rush to get him. They could have had all 3. Yeah Edelman's production would have gone down, but Welker would have done better, as Welker had done in NE in the past. He might seem overrated because he stays in the top offenses in the league, but he's a very good football player. Playing with great offenses helps, but these offenses wouldn't feature you if you aren't a good football player.
He's a good player but he's never been a top 10 WR and many people act like he's right behind Calvin Johnson. Good player, would love to have someone like him on my team just not a great player.
Uhh I don't think anyone acts like he's right behind Calvin. He might be the Calvin Johnson of slot/inside receivers, maybe you're getting that confused? From whatever I read, he's never even in considered in top 10 receivers, because a #1 WR completely changes an offense. Depends what you mean by great, that's just a discussion of how we use "great". Welker has only been an all pro twice, and the first time was a KR/PR, so only one time as a true WR, when he led the league in receptions, rec/game, was second in yards and yds/game, and in advanced stats was a top receiver. I don't think anyone considers him top 10 overall though.
I see his name discussed about possible future HOFers, good player but there are tons of guys who could do what he does and we saw that w/ Edleman.
Edelman kind of made up the production. It would have been Welker's 4th or 5th best year in NE if Welker put up the same exact stats Edelman did. Edelman was also not as consistent. Fluctuating between reception heavy games and no shows. He did an admirable job, but Welker was still clearly better. And on top of that, again, NE had no reason to let Welker walk. That's what it comes back to, a strange decision to let him walk given that fact they knew they had a weak WR core heading into the season especially with their "top" receiver having an injury history. Maybe down the road it pays off, but I don't think that could even make sense because the decision was never WR A or B. AND was an option they had. Oh well, we'll see how important Welker is in this SB. He's going to have the read the SEA defense and be ready for SEA to mess with his release off the line consistently. I'm really curious how Seattle covers him and if Denver even wants to make him a focal point of the offense.
Edelman didn't have Moss, gronk, Hernandez to take pressure off him. NE also passed less. he replaced him pretty easily.
