Jets are still 7-1 on getting to the super bowl. i'm telling you, this is your cheapest bet on getting super bowl tix. of course, if you're confident the jets will win, you can go for the 18-1 or so to win. that's a lot riskier and requires more cash upfront of course.
the best is when you try to explain to the clueless person why teams run the ball. you can pretty much get to the part about keeping the other team from knowing that your gonna pass and their eyes glaze over.
You gotta know that most people who watch the SuperBowl don't know beans about football. It';s a big social gathering thing., Who cares. As a Jet fan and a female Jet fan,I don't plan on sharing the experience with these types. Having been a fan for over 25 yrs.,my intent is to go to the BIG game. At the very least,I will simply make sure that I surround myself with true fans and not those who come along for the ride just because it's the big game.
Sydney - Miami return is about $1200 with United. It's a 24 hour trip with stops in LA and Denver. 24 hour return journey via Chicago. Hotel for a few days in Miami + tickets. It's doable but will be $3000-$4000 and 48 hours of flying/transit.
I actually have a trip to Japan planned during that time. If the Jets make it I've pretty much decided to cancel my trip and instead fly to Miami and go to the game. I placed $100 on the Jets winning the superbowl at the beginning of the season so hopefully that'll cover the entire trip...
i have to admit, hitting up a bookie at the START OF THE SEASON when the odds are like 50-1 for the jets to 'win it all' is the best way to go. Better yet, bet on the Jets to win the AFC Championship Game at 30-1 odds so you can get your cash to buy the SB ticket. you bet $133 at 30-1 and vola! you get $4000 to go watch them play in the SB. you could lose the $133 and try again every year for 30 years and still pay less than the cost of a SB ticket!
I'm in talks with my partner right now about the possibility of 5-7 days in the Miami area. Whilst she doesn't watch football, knows this is my "Holy Grail" so to speak and is cool with it on the proviso she can come for the trip. However it's going to cost about $2,500before game tickets, food and partying even enter the mix The house needs work, the car needs work and economy is biting where my partner's been made redundant twice in the last 3 years. If it comes to it the car can wait, I'll eat spam for the rest of the year and drink no booze until the start of next season. Might be better just come to come to NYC for 3 days and watch the game in a bar with other denizens of the GangGreen. Mind you it will cost as much as Maureen loves NYC and the shopping Quandrys
....or, take the money you would pay on PSLs and season tics and put it in the bank. Then, when/if the jets hosts playoff games or go to a SB, withdrawl $15K and have at it!
thought I would post in this thread... so its the day after and its still sinking in and am still trying to get over the celebration all night long but now that reality is starting to come into focus again it has me thinking... WTF am i going to do now? if the jets beat the colts (which is very possible) i have a dilemma. I like other jets fans on here already know that regardless of the price am going to find a way to get to miami. now while i agree being at the game would be awesome and priceless...just being in miami for the game has to be right up there. while i know that i will be adding to my already existing debt i really want to be there. So my question...any other MD/VA/DC jets fans contemplating going to the game if so then I am all in for getting a group together and heading down there. Anyone else?
I agree with Iggy, go to a bar in the city of the game. Get slightly drunk for the game, order large quantities of deep fried food. Any extra $$ goes towards hookers to make you look like a superstar at the bar (unless you are married). Jets win, take hookers home for drunk sex while watching highlights on TV over and over again. After this, you can go ahead and make funeral preparations, because your life is complete, you can die now.
