This is a blessing. Not that i didn't want Suggs to be a Jet,but with a guy whos health is constantly in question, this wasn't starting off on the right foot.
I live in Ohio and saw the Browns first pre season game on Thursday, Suggs played, now the question: Did he get hurt in that game or maybe the better question, how did he pass the Browns physical to be able to even be in camp?
Suggs would have been a welcome addition compared to what we already have right now. Still, you can't take damaged goods. One thing I believe is that Tangini refuses to be taken in an Rb trade so expect to go with what we have, at least for the start....
While I see your point here and it's valid, I don't think that will be case with the Jets. At some point, teams that are stacked at running back will want to get something instead of showing a talented back the door without getting anything in return (just like we would like to do with Brooks or with McCareins). If we don't panic, invariably some team will part with a good back late in preseason for not much at all.
This is good news, Suggs sucked and couldnt stay health for shit. We need another back, Tangini get back to the drawing board....
anyone else have a feeling that mangini failed Suggs because he had another trade in the works that was more promising? hmmm......
Possible, I guess. But I don't think Mangini does that to the Browns because of his relationship with Crennel or the perception it would leave in the minds of all GMs in the league. This whole thing has left a pile of s**t on the doorstep of the Browns because Suggs is now much more difficult to move on the market and a tough call to keep on the team in '06.
See, I didn't like the deal, but now Strait is going to be unhappy. Who wouldn't be, when you know the team tried to get rid of you?
Lee Suggs - No Deal! Lee Suggs fails his physical! the Jets send him back to Cleveland...Straits returns to NY No Joke.
We have been desperate for a running back for two years now and the whole league knows it. We are also desperate for a WR, TE, DT, DE, ILB, QB and RT for two years now and the whole league knows it. Nothing has changed other than we added depth at FS and Nickel back with Suggs failing his physical.
We don't need no vehicles with a flat tire.... already have one. I'll bet Strait is really pissed about now. But all this hasn't meant squat anyway, in the larger scheme of things. Tangini is obligated to take steps like this to try to make us as competitive as possible for '06. I'm just glad they have a handle on the larger picture too though, which is (for those of you who want playoffs, guaranteed wins and immediate gratification NOW), they're not losing sight of the fact that we're in complete rebuild and that it's a two year process, minimum. As such, they're not doing anything stupid, like trading valuable future draft picks in order for us to look a tad bit better this year. They know the score... we're not going anyplace special this year. The entire focus is still 12-24 months out, so that's a good thing.
who cares if Strait is pissed off, how many times is he going to see action on the field even if hes not traded?
It was a good try. If Suggs had been healthy it was a good thing. As it is, this kind of tips our hand now though. Don't know if Strait will have the same trade-bait value now. There are others though... McCareins and Jolley come to mind.
