I like Strait, so I am actually happy this didn't happen. Stick with the guys we have, see if the roster cut-downs put any decent names out there, and use Draft Day '07 to get the next feature back.
He was a lot better than the crap we had who we would have gotten for free as Strait is going no where, not saying that he is great, but he makes out running game mediocre instead of a pathetic joke
I wouldn't mind getting someone like Shelton or Pearman since their young and got some potential. But in all likelihood we'll probably just go with our current backs and draft one next year. I really wanted to see Suggs here, though.
We make a solid trade on a guy who is rumored to be cut and this clown fails his physical... What else is new in a Jets fans life.
this sucks bad...suggs is alot better most likely than the crap we will end up with, even if he is more of a injury risk....maybe this can still work out eventually?
I agree he has more potential than the crap we already have on the roster but that potential means jack shit if there is no production to go along with it.. Suggs has had plenty of opportunities to flash that potential and every time he did, something has gotten in the way. Usually a minor injury that forced him to sit, he could not be relied on. Not to mention the dude fumbled ALOT.
This is actually a very good thing... because if they want Strait bad enough they might offer us a draft pick or a NT instead. Since they are also a 3-4 defense they definitely have personnel we would be interested in. Who played NT for them last year? Cleveland has a bunch of DT on their roster... including rookie Babatunde Oshinowo who a lot of us wanted the Jets to draft this year.
what for? Marcel shipp is trash....not an upgrade over blaylock, houston, or washington....atleast with suggs he would have been undisputed as the most talented rb on our roster by far
Well there's some pluses here... I really think that Blaylock/Houston/Washington can get it done. If Houston's blocking improves, he could really be dangerous. Plus, Strait does have potential. He may be developing slowly, but he won the Jim Thorpe award for best DB in College Football in his senior year so there is certainly potential there... Given the chance, I think he can become a pretty good player. Oh well, we have to think positivly.
i wouldn't say that. now he's on a team that was willing to trade him away and with the browns he would have had a good chance to play with gary baxter and d. mcucutheon (whatever the hell is is!) being hurt.
I think we found our guy....BJ Askew in a HB not a FB role....21 ATTempts for 91 yards is not bad....just give the guy a chance
Have to admit, even though I thought this trade was a no-brainer, that was something that did concern me....
