nah see I disagree. you cite a couple teams where it isn't working but there are just as many in which it does. There is nothing wrong with being aggressive in the offseason, in fact its another avenue to acquire great players. The Jets Front Office right now just can't participate. They aren't really sitting back and deciding its smart not to. Hell Maccagnan went on a spree last year and got the pieces that turned this team around! He'd absolutely do it again if he could. But they are up against it.
Because of where they are with the cap any meaningful moves in free agency this year are likely going to require cutting/trading a reasonably well paid starting player. I assume that takes a fair amount of work to make sure you get it right. I'm ok with them taking their time even if it is a little nerve wracking.
Its not that spending in free agency = not successful. Its "stupidly" spending in free agency = not successful. Those organizations make stupid personnel decisions. Others dont.
Not everyone is a lowlife like you. Jones has had 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances. Mac isn't my hero, but I think you're flat out wrong and clueless as usual if you think Mac would sign him.
If the Jets didn't blow their wad on Revis, maybe you would see 1 big signing, but you wouldn't see them paying crazy money for a Janoris Jenkins, do you think? Or how about Malik Jackson who got 90m? Or better yet 2 big signings like that? Do you think they would spend 10M at Mario Williams? I doubt it. It's smart not to overspend on super-overrated players and that's exactly what the Fins and Giants are doing. That's my point.
I can't believe I agree w/ you here, I should've worded my argument differently, but yes this would be the point.
well tey gave buster skrine 6.5 M per year, Cromartie 8M, I dont see thme that much different than Jenkins or Jackson, just a little bit less money but also worse players
We escaped Cro's deal with no problem and it was essentially an 8M dollar place-holder for this off-season. Buster Skrine we can also escape after this season. Do you think Janoris Jenkins is a top 3 corner in the NFL? Not w/ that contract. The guy makes plays but he always gets burned for TDs, the guy is making crazy cash. 2nd to Revis in terms of per year salary. Byron Maxwell's contract is much worse.
This will be a boring free agency in Jetland. If I were Gm I want to trade Mo Wilk ASAP . Can't write a check with no money Something has to give/restructure or else we are losing Fitz and DH
2000 - did not make the playoffs 2001 - did not make the playoffs 2002 - did not make the playoffs 2003 - did not make the playoffs 2004 - did not make the playoffs 2005 - did not make the playoffs 2006 - did not make the playoffs 2007 - did not make the playoffs 2008 - did not make the playoffs 2009 - did not make the playoffs 2010 - did not make the playoffs 2011 - did not make the playoffs 2012 - did not make the playoffs 2013 - did not make the playoffs 2014 - did not make the playoffs 2015 - did not make the playoffs 2016 - probably won't make the playoffs (just a hunch)
He's talking about free agent moves as compared to those other organizations. I asked for recent examples. So you're saying that each team that doesnt make the playoffs also makes stupid moves in free agency?
Ask Jerry Orbanski what he thinks of PacMan Jones and how much of the $11 million Jones owes him, Jones has actually paid. Let's talk about Jones 8 arrests (count 'em) and discuss why he should be a member of the Jets. I swear some of you guys should receive a lifetime ban to watching the Jets or posting on Jets sites. You are clueless.
