Studs Wilson - was rough the 1st 3 quarters but damn near perfect in the 4th quarter and showed his leadership, arm, and escapablity. Corey Davis - several clutch catches in that final quarter AVT - for having to play LT and for being a stud while doing it The big 3 D-lienman - Quinnen, JJ, and lawson all had sacks. quinnen was also a force all game long Joyner - actually had a really good game. had a big INT in the 1ts half and the game sealing one on the hail mary. Defense as a whole - probably the best defensive effort i've seen in a jets game in a while. we held the opponent to 20 points while getting 4 turnovers, 3 sacks, 9 PDs, and 6 QB hits. sauce was shutdown again as well Saleh - in the past, the jets would always fold and turn a game from a close one, to a blowout, to an embarrassment. now we are fighting to the end and have 2 come from behind wins in the past 3 weeks Duds nobody really stood out as a dud to me. EDIT: Stud - JD, for not falling for the fields hype and taking wilson instead. fields is awful
I nominate CJ Mosely for Dud status this week. He looked like a shell of himself out there. G. Wilson had a good game. The OL deserves a Dud rating for the 1st half alone.
Not sure Saleh had the team prepared. Lots of mistakes and dumb penalties. Our defensive coordinator on the other hand deserves some credit for making some changes that limited the deep passes that burned us the last three weeks. I would also nominate Breece Hall as a stud and Michael Carter as a dud.
Yeah Mosley was fooled a few times. Lawson's dumb penalty kinda removes the shine of his sack. Mitchell gave up a pretty ugly sack before he was injured. Berrios had a TD pass that was stud worthy for not dirting it.
mosley is what he is. he hasn't been the same player since coming to the jets and is just a decent LBer who is way overpaid. but the CS loves him and he's a team leader and QB of the defense so his intangibles are keeping him around. I don't expect much form mosley and I get what I expect O-line has suffered so many injuries it's hard to fault them.
Carter didn't do much, hall had a good game but seems to be a favorite of MLF so he features him more. we came out and started up by 10 points so hard to say we weren't prepared. not prepared is usually for teams that start off in a big hole
I'm judging Mosely's performance against his last game... not his salary or leadership. Can we at least put McDermott on the Dud list?
Carter had a dumb false start penalty (it WAS a ticky tack flag) but he ran tough all game despite some shitty run blocking. I'm a big Breece guy... but he had some face-palm moments in the game. He needs to spend some time with the Jugs machine...
Duds for me would be Mosley and MLF. Mosley had a dumb penalty, and I kept on seeing him getting mauled for multiple yards after contact. Got beat on some pass coverage, just a bad game. MLF, I get the line... But it's like he treats first down as an undesirable bonus. Just seems to have no thought put into that play, and I didn't like some of his other calls (Wilson first pick too aggressive, 2nd trick play).
CS gets a stud for creativity on the OL without giving away a hint pre-game. AVT at LT was genius and if I'm not mistaken Mitchell started at RG and was there most of the game.
Need to add Jeff Smith to DUD!!!!!!!!! That route he took at the end of the first half was disgusting. I said it in another thread, but I'll reiterate it here -- That throw by #2 was super aggressive and at that spot in the game, I am not crazy for it, but the route that Smith made was so fucking bad. If Smith runs that route to the corner pylon, the DB on Elijah Moore doesn't drift off and INT the throw. It very well might be a touchdown if he goes all the way to the corner. That route needs to be 10 yards deeper to the corner and it's in a place only Smith can get it or its out of bounds.
I don't mind running on 1st down... but runs between these tackles is fruitless. We got tackled for loss numerous times yesterday. Swing the blocking & the backs wide and test the edge... it wears out their DL & linebackers and gives our backs some room to operate. Every positive run we had were these play calls... Breece excels at these type of plays where the scheme strings out blocking and he can hit the gap on the move.
Garret Wilson made a stud play when he broke up an sure interception. Zach should buy him a nice lunch.
I don't know if it qualifies for "Stud" but Conklin looked a whole hell of a lot better with Wilson throwing to him than he did with Flacco.
.@nyjets reshuffled OLine held up and battled in the toughest of the toughest places to play #ZachWilson time after time showed off his enormous talent. This is what I was talking about in the other thread. The throws were perfect. The one to Corey Davis where he slides down low to grab it with the defender on him (1:58 in the video) was his best throw of the game.
