I think we'll be about where we were this in the #6-10 range.
I think we would have to maneuver up to get him.

My point is I think that we could do this next year, and that we should. But now I don't see it happening
I think we're too far in. It just sucks because I really think do to this selection we'll miss out on who I believe
to be a truly elite talent in Bridgewater all for for just a decent talent in Geno.

People keep saying things like this, as if it was a foregone conclusion that we'd even be in position to draft Bridgewater. And honestly...who knows who will end up being the better pro down the line? Alex Smith was drafted #1 overall and Aaron Rodgers slipped; how'd that turn out? Granted Smith and Bridgewater are different classes, but still...nothing with regards to quarterbacks is a guarantee.

There's no foregone conclusion about it.

I feel confident that we'll be fairly close to the top again next year and we will have enough picks to be able to move up in a position to get him. And there's a drastic difference between Teddy and Genos current level of talent based on QB attributes. There's a reason Geno fell to #39 and Teddy will go either 1, 2 or 3.

But hey I wont knock you for being optimistic. I just feel like this Geno move was politically based for either self preservation or as a win now must win and improve this year mindset possibly to sell tickets.

Well, win win I suppose. If we finish fairly close to the top, then lets go get a top QB. If we don't, I'd have to imagine that Geno had a pretty good rookie year, in which case, lets ride this thing out. People are so down on Geno, I don't really understand it, but thus is life.

Would you say that if the Jets went to the AFC Championship game, that Geno had a pretty good rookie year?

I don't think Geno will start the season. I think we'll drop/trade Sanchez and start Garrard and Geno will be his backup.

I was really bummed about this team post Revis trade. The day one picks didn't do anything to get me excited. That's not to say I didn't like the picks it just didn't change the outlook of our team much.

Day two got me excited. Whether Smith pans out or not remains to be seen but at the very least it makes things interesting. It makes our offense watchable which it hasn't been in the last two years. And we won 6 and 8 games the last two years with one of the worst offenses in the league. If Smith is any better than Sanchez, which he would be hard not to be better, we can be competitive.

Also I really like the Winters pick. His wrestling background, his versatility. I think he will be a solid addition to the line.

The one thing that I didn't like was the Ivory trade. I don't see him as the answ and to give up a 4th rounder for him was too much in my opinion.

I'm not surprised people are whining with the way they present the Jets picks on TV. When we picked Milliner all they showed on NFL Network is a clip of him dropping passes at the combine. Then we pick Geno and all they show is a clip of his overthrows. It's almost like they had special "bury the Jets if they pick this guy" film.

Excitement is nice when your watching the games and it helps get over the rebuilding times when you know you're teams going to be dismal you at least get entertained.

You build a team to win. Not go 500 for the year, not win slightly more, not to make a playoff team, but to win it all, win a championship.

For me though I would rather have the worst team in the league and be sick to my stomach for 16 games so long as we're building for the future a team that can compete for a championship. I truly believe Teddy Bridgewater could've won 5 more games for the NYJ last year with the same team and him as a rookie.

I just dont see Geno Smith as that caliber of player. I just don't see why you wouldn't build up the team as a whole in this draft. Go with Garrard for this season get all the guys reps and a year of seasoning then in 2014 get Bridgewater.

Stop worrying about "missing out on a good QB next year"...they had a chance to take the top QB talent in the 2nd fuckin round and they took it, its a good risk.

    Jeez guys

I understand what you're implying, and obviously yes, I'd be pumped about that. But its more than that, clearly. I need to see him pass the eye test, be efficient with his completion percentage and limit turnovers. If he does those things, then I'd say we have a QB on our hands. None of those things were ever the case with Sanchez...not consistently, at least
