That's not true. White has been in the NFL for 3 years. He had never started a game, but has received a lot of coaching, practice time and preseason games.
Are you joking? This is Mike White's 4th year in the NFL. He's been on two NFL teams and gone through 4 training camps and 3 seasons with multiple different NFL coaching staffs. How the hell is that less experience than a rookie QB who's been in the NFL for less than 200 days? LOL Wtf is this argument? How is this logically something you believe? Holy shit
You know guys its not uncommon to Tag Team QBs like some colleges do sticking in one guy for a quarter or special plays like the Wildcat. In NFL look what S Payton and New Orleans did with Brees and Taysom Hill : they won plenty games I am no OC , but can we do that here with Zach and White?
Probably not with these two guys. Taysom Hill is more of a slash player, so he's good for gadget plays, whereas Wilson and White are both purely QBs.
This for sure, but going back to TN and Cin, again, those teams marched up and down the field on us, both putting up over 30 points and were it not for a missed FG and a lucky tipped int, the only one we have this season btw, we'd be 0-8. Our defense is horrifically bad and could turn out to be historically bad when everything is said and done. The games against CAR, DEN NE twice, ATL, IND we were hopelessly out of it by the end of H1. I cannot put any stock in anything after that offensively. It is easy to put up gaudy stats during garbage time when the opponent is relaxing and avoiding a quick strike score. Sure, down 24-0 you can dink and dunk your way up and down the field for a half, bottom line, every time this defense is called upon to make a stop, they can't, and it has been that way around here for almost a decade since Rex.
Our defense has been horrid just about all season. The fact is, if the defense had done their part on Thursday night the Jets PROBABLY win that game despite losing Mike White early. This is so uncharacteristic of a NYJ defense. Robert Saleh needs to get his act together and either take over from Ullbrich or fire him.....
Same for the Atlanta game. We needed a stop and the defense just spit the bit. We could have won both those games.
But we didn't and the team is losing because the D for whatever reasons, injuries-performance-talent-etc.- is not working, period and hasn't most of the year.
In Carolina we pulled within 5 with 1:56 left in the game. That's not almost winning. Against Atlanta we cut the lead to 7 with 17 seconds left. That's not almost winning.
Against Carolina we could have at least gotten the ball back down one score had we not given up a first down to Carolina on their last possession. Against Atlanta we pulled to within 3 points with 6:55 left in the game. On Atlanta's ensuing possession they went 9 plays in 4 min 36 sec to put is down by 10 with 2:19 left to play. If the Jets held Atlanta out of the end zone, we would have had a real shot at winning. No one ever said we "almost won."
I hate that strategy. I think a QB needs to get into a rhythm to be effective. When you bring in another guy it ends whatever rhythm has been established and can also be a momentum killer. I don't even like the wildcat for much of the same reasons.
If that's the case, even more reason to sign Mike White as long term insurance policy imo I don't think ZW is even starting against the Bills..that's ok The question is when is he ready to get back in there if at all this season? Trevor L has been progressing nicely however
Am I looking at this wrong? I do believe Saleh made it abundantly clear that the only Stat that really matters is number of points allowed, not yards, sacks or anything less. Well, we simply suck horribly bad in that category, period end on story. So for a team with a rookie QB this is a formula for disaster. I just don’t understand people trying to justify otherwise. Teams like the Jags, NE, and even Chicago, with rookie QBs hang in there because of better defenses. There are probably at least another ten or more middle of the road teams with more experienced QBs in the same boat with better D. Steelers, Panthers, Saints, Giants and Raiders come to mind, We give our Offense zero chance to hang tight with the Defense we have. It is a consistent come from behind even after we score.
the difference is we knew this going into the season. we lost all 3 key free agents on defense (davis, joyner, lawson) before the season started. Our back 7 started as a guy who hasn't played in 2 years and had to lose 20lbs and learn a new system, a late round rookie, and a random FA we brought in off waivers for the Lbers. our secondary was a waiver FA maye and then a group of CBs all late round picks and UDFAs who are rookies or year 2. we knew the defense was going to be bad. we all said it. we just expected the offense to be good becuase we invested in it. and now for the past 2 weeks the offense has been good despite the large numbers of injuries. even with a 3rd string 35YO journeyman QB and missing our TE1, LT1, and WR1 our offense looked better then it has since probably 5 years. we knew we were gonna suck. this season was about evaluation and improvement. now people are bitching about not winning.
