im a fairly young jets fan in comparision to the 65 and 69 fans now thats what i call fans. ive been around since the early 90's the rich kotite era bill parcells hermans edwards and oh yeah not to forget the bill bellichik era which lasted a day hahaha were we that bad with no upside. well his lose we are doing quite fine and should continue to make great progress. Go Jets!!!
RickJet as a a resident Naysayer and Darksider from CT who goes back with the Jets to 66 all I can say is Great post! The way I feel about this season is the way I felt when Hess hired Parcells. There was a buzz that the team had finally gotten off the floor that day. Parcells moved on but maybe we got lucky by getting the second prodigal son instead of the first? He looks to be every bit as smart without the baggage of actually being BB. This has been a great fun season and I think this team might have a more than a couple of games left?
The more that I sit here and go over the games we played against 'elite' teams this season, the more I think it's possible that they have 4 left.
48 here, and lifelong Jets fan.........my pop sat me down to watch SB III, and i've been there ever since. Some very painful seasons, I am enjoying this one tremendously. We do have a chance to make this magical....going in hot is the only way to go. I expect a victory against Oakland, with our defense playing very good..........man, its time to roll. Enjoy it eveybody!........Great post!
I''m young, but i've loved the Jets since I first started watchin football. I remeber Bruce Coslet but I was really young so I didn't really understand football. (Icome from a Giants family.) I remeber 1-15 and stuck by our boys, I wouldn't have it any other way. My uncle tells me about the days of shea and queens, and of course Joe Willie. This season has been great for us. I love our guys playing their guts out against Goliath every week. They give me suc great green pride. Chad looks good for the most part, he' not perfect though, but when you're smart and a good team leader you don't need a great arm. I love the way they play, and I've been on board for the playoffs realistically since the Colts game. This team can do it, and will be a dangerous #6 in the playoffs. You DO NOT want to face us in the playoffs, because we will make you beat us til we can't move before you win. If you play us, it will be a dog fight, ask the colts, pats, and bears from the regular season. We always have the potential for an upset if you we play hard, disciplined, and execute, which we've basically done all yer. Mangini will not let us go in unprepared, and not let it go to the players heads that the raiders are easy. Chad said it, Vilma said it, Mangini said it, and I'm sure everone else buys into it, The raiders are no pushover. If we go out confident (not cocky) that if we play our game hard and disciplined we should win. I'm on board for january :jets:
My birthday this January will be #76.....and I've got the GREEN spirit! Guess I'm still the oldest poster here. Some of you older posters may also know that "The Green Guy" is my son and what a joy it was introducing him to the Jets in 71. My tickets date a few years before that. Retired about 20 years ago and moved to Vegas. There were NO visible Jet fans here then and some sports books even turned the games off for other teams. The wife and I usually get back for 1 game a year and 1 away game to a city we like to visit. Did Phoenix for the 1 win in the Kotite years. This Sunday we'll be at Bugsy's with a crowd of Jet fan hollering away. There's litte I like better then stuffing it to the Ruders!!! This has been a FUN year!
Hey LV Coach, it's great having you here. And I must say, Green Guy is my favorite poster on this board. His exuberance for this team exudes through the computer monitor. I have a question for you. If you are 76, that means you didn't start rooting for the Jets/Titans until you were at least 31. Who did you root for before that? Why did you make the switch?
I'm 57. I was going to a junior college in Maryland in 1969. Cleaned up on the Jets winning SB III and the Mets beating the Os. I was down there with 8-9 guys from NY. They hated us. I had an old Plymouth Valient, and after the Jets won, I painted the car green and white, put the score on the sides, and drove back down to MD with my buddies.
I'm 43, also live in CT and think ricjet is on the $$. If you haven't lived through Kotite then you really don't deserve to complain. About anything. Period.
I'm 41 and originally from NY but now living in NC. I agree 100% and clueless Kotite and Holtz were the worst coaches ever for this team. The only coaches I've really liked are Michaels, Tuna, and Mangini. I haven't been this excited about the FO and team since the Tuna first took over. We finally have a coach that "gets it" and appears to be here for the long term unlike the quitting Parcells.
After living through all of the pain through the last three decades I know when I finally get to hear... "And The New York Jets are going to the Superbowl!!!" It is going to be a very emotional experience and all of those frustrating seasons will fade into one bad memory that I can close the door on forever. If they win it is just icing on the cake, just get there sometime soon.
