I want to check with the op first........

Is it Ok to blame Christopher Reeves for the defensive problems this year?

What the hell if you can't blame Rex for defensive problems might as well pick out a crippled dead guy............

Oh, and bitching about Schottenheimer for all the bullshit offensive production is warranted, eh?

It's always two-way street. If 9-point-a-game offense deserves any blame, so does 38-points-a-game defense.

God damn Rex for not using hindsight when making critical decisions.

That's the heart of the problem with Rex right there. Poor judgement, poor discipline all season and poor decision making/game management. Rex must improve in these areas to get to the next level.

    Agreed......

Another personel Gaffe I see is having Cromartie Blitz.... Cromartie isn't as agile and isn't a great tackler so, having him be the one chasing the QB is actually a great benefit to the QB.

It's almost the Schottenheimer style on Defense - Lets be SOOOO Damn tricky they will never see it coming.

Keep Cromartie in coverage and how about blitz a smaller agile guy or heck.. JT.

The personnel are the same last year and they were certainly elite then. Of course Revis isn't playing for a contract but that's about the only difference. You can certainly blame Ryan but especially Petine for the fall off as he supposedly is calling the plays now.

We have better personnel than we did a year ago and we had a much better D a year ago. We all love Rx but this is w/o a doubt on rex.

I'd rather have Cromartie blitz than cover b/c he has been terrible in coverage

He's only terrible in coverage because there is no blitz....

It's not on Cromartie's resume to get to the QB. It's his job to cover and HOPEFULLY be helped out by a decent pass rush....

If You Blitz Cromartie that means someone else is probably out of position and if you think Cro can't cover, i wonder who is on his man, Jason Taylor?

We had no pass rush last year either, it was not elite in the slightest, our secondary was playing elite, but in the end a lack of pass rush will catch up to you, no matter how good the coverage is.

I love how nobody ever gives credit to the opposition. Is our personnel really that much worse than last year? Or did our scheme hide some flaws last year?

Our pass rush wasn't all that hot last year either, but opposing QB's were confused enough to hide it. Revis hasn't gone away this year, OC's have just learned to work around him.

Remember Dontrelle Willis, the freaky leg-kick pitcher on the Marlins who absolutely dominated his rookie year and then was banished to the minors two years later?

You know what did him in? FILM STUDY.

Also. Losing Leonard has been devastating..... The secondary was barely getting on the same page when he went down and we were short at Safety anyway.

The Pats game minus Leonard was a disaster, of course.

    Beautifully said.

The biggest issue is that we did not properly address the lack of pass rush, because the secondary looked bad in the AFCCG we went and got Crom and drafted Wilson, when we desperately needed to completely remodel the front 7.

We weren't getting to the QB consistently late last year either and we didn't have these problems.

I was joking about him blitzing more b/c he couldn't cover, it was an exaggeration showing how awful he has been in coverage. obviously I don't want Taylor dropping into coverage- I only want Taylor on the field on obvious rushing downs b/c he can't cover or rush the passer but he has been great against the run.

I don't think losing leonhard has been a huge deal, the secondary was having communication issues all season even w/ Jim. this is on the coaches. We have more than enough talent to have one of the top D's in the league.

"Exotic" blitzes and "pressure" work for certain periods and don't work when they no longer work. Pressure has to be a cog in the gameplan not the alpha and omega.

Paying a "shutdown" CB is stupid. The concept of a "shutdown" CB eliminating half the field is archaic. Jetdom made the mistake of coming up with "Revis Island". Now they are stuck with $16M per year in a CB and a defense that can limit the Pats to only 45 points.

Way too many old players. This stuff can happen in December.

What the Jest really needs are 6 picks in the first three rounds of the 2011 draft.

Lol. Your statement is foolish and only serves to support the OP's claim.

Without pressure on Cutler he has torn up opposing teams.

You can have the best coverage in the world but with so much time a QB will find his receivers.
