The broadcast said he had a quad injury...just maybe for clarification...but if it is his hammy my apologies!
Could be a quad. CBS was where I got the hammy from. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/jets-quinnen-williams-hamstring-remains-bothersome/
Maybe also Allen is being scheme against. They looked at his film from last year and adapted. They are single blocking QW.
That's not true. They aren't single blocking QW he's facing double teams each and every game Boozer. And on the flip side maybe Josh Allen only had rookie success last year because A.) Defenses weren't scheming against him because B.) They couldn't and that's because C.) OCs/QBs/O-Lineman were too busy and worried about scheming against a proven pass rusher in Yannick Ngakoue (a pro bowler with 42.5 career sacks). Who knows but all I know is the very moment that Yannick was traded away from Jacksonville I immediately made a post predicting that Josh Allen's sack numbers and total production would fall off a cliff this upcoming season. And so far without Yannick opposite of him, they have. I bet QW would look even more dominant with an outside pass rusher such as Josh Allen and vice versa I bet Josh Allen would look amazing with a QW on his D-Line collapsing the pocket.
it's almost as if having multiple good players makes them all look better. who would have thought lol
Allen isn't struggling because Ngakoue is gone. He is struggling because Calais Campbell is gone. But no matter how many times I point this out he still comes back to Ngakoue.
Either way....you need more than one pass rusher otherwise that one guy will be doubled every time and most players can’t consistently overcome that kind of attention on every play. A few dominate anyway, like Aaron Donald, but most don’t. Doesn’t mean you need two pro bowlers, but you need at least one or two other guys that demand some attention. so either way....we already saw that with Calais and Y that Josh Allen did well. Similarly, if we even had SOME semblance of an outside rush, Q would be doing worlds better. It’s not rocket science....
I’d rather have Eric Dickerson and James Brooks in a 2-back set with Steve Young zeemimg lazers to Desean Jackson
Allen had one of his best games of the year against the Texans recording 2 tackles, 2 assists, and a half sack in 57 snaps. Q, who was slated to start on Friday, was mysteriously held out of the game to ensure the tank. On to week 10. Quinnen Williams 19 tackles 12 assists 3 sacks 1 forced fumble 335 defensive snaps Josh Allen 6 tackles 4 assists 2.5 sacks 314 defensive snaps
I doubt it Williams sucks and it was a horrible pick at the time and still looks horrible now. As bad as the Jets are on offense they had no business drafting this guy I wouldn't care if he were the second coming of A-A ron Donald. DT is the least important position on the defense and the Jets seem to draft them every year. They couldn't even unload Williams at the trade deadline..
Williams has been a disappointment. Not a bust but just a really average player. Futukasi had 7 tackles this week and a FF in relief. I don’t think Williams is all that much better right but could still develop as he does have explosion and athleticism... still Sheldon Richardson showed a lot more athletically+ desire and even he didn’t work out.
Futasaki has been playing well and he is a good guy to have on the roster. But nowhere near the talent of Q. That was his best game by far and part of it was because the Pats really do stink. I seriously believe we held Q back last night to keep him from making a play that could have cost us the loss. Here are Fut's 2020 stats: 11 tackles 12 assists 1 forced fumble 256 defensive snaps
Allen had 2 tackles against the Pack. Q, like the rest of the Jets, was a 3 point underdog to the bye week. (Sorry I just love that joke). Quinnen Williams 19 tackles 12 assists 3 sacks 1 forced fumble 335 defensive snaps Josh Allen 8 tackles 4 assists 2.5 sacks 360 defensive snaps
Allen left the game in the 3rd qtr with a knee injury. He had no stats until that point and PFF has changed one of his tackles from last week to an assist. Q had a few assists and half a sack in a pretty lackluster performance. Quinnen Williams 19 tackles 15 assists 3.5 sacks 1 forced fumble 389 defensive snaps Josh Allen 7 tackles 6 assists 2.5 sacks 397 defensive snaps
This is a fun thread, and a valid comparison to some extent however, these players don’t play in a vacuum, right? It’s all about how to build a team...something that Mac was utterly clueless about, which is sad to say since he actually got paid to do this for a living, and had access to scouts, and film, and coaches, etc., while we fans do this part time without even 10% of the resources that Mac had. And yet, this board would have had infinitely better drafts just on the consensus here. so the real question may not really be if Q is better than Allen in a vacuum. Really, we should be asking if taking Q and trading Leo is better than taking Allen and pairing him with Leo, thus building a DL with complementary strengths as opposed to drafting a replacement who may be marginally better than Leo, and then using the draft picks from trading Leo on other resources.
Instead of drafting Josh Allen and pairing him with Leonard Williams... Why not just simply sign one of either Yannick Ngakoue/Bud Dupree/Shaq Barrett/Matt Judon/Melvin Ingram in order to pair alongside of Quinnen Williams? I like the sound of that a lot more...
I laugh at the Williams sucks, is not a good player etc. posts. QW has without a doubt been the best player on the field for Jets this season. /thread
I think we need a year or two to judge who the better pick would've been. Q has shown improvement while Allen has regressed in 2020. I wanted Allen because we've lacked an edge rushing force for a long team while taking multiple interior DL in the early rounds. But if Q can become a force up the middle, I'll gladly eat crow.
