LMAO...All I really wanted was to get everyone's opinion on Morris. Silly me, I thought the draft forum would be the place. I might as well have posted the topic in the New Jets Forum as somehow this became all about on Geno.
I don't know why you expected a different response. You asked how Morris would fit with the Jets under Marty. If you asked "What do you think of Morris"?... you would have got a different response that had nothing to do with the Jets and Geno.
Man, he was awful last night. Totally different player than what I've seen in the past. UNC did a great job covering and the pass rush showed up enough to force him into some bad throws.
Yeah Ebron looked strong, caught the ball very well. I would have really liked to see him stay up on that seam route where the safety got him right after he caught it, but man he had a game.
Its the Green Bay approach draft a QB every year. If you get lucky and he develops quickly you can ship him off for draft picks or ship the incumbent QB off for the same thing. I like this philosophy. It also provides competition that is what Idzik is always talking about.
Besides Flynn who else "developed fast" and was shipped out for picks? It's just recent past. Not many teams have success with this i believe most players get dropped and moved on from
As a life long Canes fan and a former season ticket holder who watches every single game, and can tell you this Morris isn't anything special. Can he play qb in nfl? Absolutely. He has good foot work, a big arm, and is athletic. But he has terrible field vision and poor ball security. He also seems a bit frail.
Yeah, he did, but it didn't change anything from my perspective. It's not like I thought he was a first round pick or anything. I still like him as a developmental prospect. The arm talent, footwork and mobility is still there. There is a lot for a good OC and QB coach to work with. If anything, his performance may have made it more of a possibility for the Jets. Many felt that he would be a 2nd/3rd round pick and the Jets would not invest such a high draft choice on a QB because of Geno. Maybe he just played his way out of those rounds and into the 4th/5th.
I really like what Washington did last year drafting RG3 in round 1 and Cousins in round 3. They got 2 good starting caliber QBs and insurance for injuries to RG3. With how many hits Geno has taken this year, the poor play of our OL, and the droppoff particularly of D'Brick's play a 3rd round QB next year may not be bad investment.
We agree on his positives. This is why I like him as a developmental prospect. He is the kind of guy MM can work wonders with.
