At least now that he's on the I.R. he will have an excuse for being invisible on sundays the rest of the year.
Isn't he a personal pick of RR? Liked that he blocked well. 2 seasons of being in effective. I guess we will have to wait to cut him next year.
Thanks for the update. I thought he's been on the IR list all year long. Not that it makes $.10 difference if he plays or not as he has no impact whatsover.
I still think he will be back next year. Hopefully the Jets sign a veteran wide receiver and draft another one early. That would make him the #4 going into the season. Give him one more year and see what we have. He should be a decent deep threat but we'll see.
So this is Stephen Hill's low point. It's the second season in a row that he's gotten hit and counted out before the season was over. If he's got any play in him he's going to work really hard in the off-season and force the Jets to give him another chance. He really needs to find a veteran receiver somewhere, maybe recently retired, to coach him up. He needs to spend 3 or 4 days a week working with the guy to develop the fine points of being a wide receiver because his natural ability isn't going to do it for him. N-F-L. That's where he's at right now.
Stephen Hill will remain on the team, but there is no way in hell he starts or ends the season 2nd on this depth chart barring a miracle. He will drop on the chart undoubtedly. 4th or maybe even 5th. Holmes will definitely be cut off the team. btw Hill is not a decent deep threat, he doesn't scare the defense at all. Hell I wonder if the defense even game plans against him. The wide receiver and tight end corps needs a major remake. On the depth chart on both positions from 1-5.
It's really hard to hold a 4th or 5th receiver slot without playing on special teams. Hill probably has to return kicks or something like that if he's going to stay as a low rung developmental receiver.
Ramses Barden was on the Giants despite him not playing special teams right? I agree with you though, 4th and 5th spot should be dedicated to actually being useful on the field
I never was that high on Hill because even though I always heard about his great height and speed, I never ever heard anyone mention anything positive about his hands; which to me is the most important attribute for a WR I'm not surprised at all that he has been nothing so far in his career. I say give him a try next year in training camp, but cut him loose if he doesn't show major improvement
In his entire career, Hill has 594 yards and 4 TDs. In his two games against the Bills, he has 197 yards and 3 TDs.
He's almost Vlad status right now. Honestly, I don't think he will ever get it. Hill just doesn't have that it factor or instinct to play the position well. For a guy who is as big as he is he has an incredibly small catching radius. Look at what Kerley did during his touchdown catch last Sunday; I've never seen Hill do that. Still its frustrating to see a player who has all the measurables but cant put it together, especially when you trade up to get the player and the guy picked two picks later is becoming a stud.
The guy's a study in frustration. Watching this guy for the better part of a week up in Cortland he looked dominant, heads and shoulders better than the others capped off with a long TD in the Green-White game. He's remained a body catcher instead of a hand snatcher...it's a shame, 'cause he's got so much "what if?" physically. _
