I have to disagree. Neither player is "out playing" Hill. They're just getting more opportunities for whatever reason. In the 5 plays I called out earlier there was an example of where Geno tried to fit the ball into Nelson and Salas in triple coverage while hill was open on his route.

No time to throw the ball results on Geno locking onto one of the inside receivers. You barely ever see him lock into a receiver lining up on the outside.

And Im sure I could go through the tape and find similar plays where Salas and Nelson are open too. Fact is, they are doing more for this offense than Hill. Its not an opinion. Its fact. Whether its because they are open more, or Geno doesnt trust Hill or look his way, its still true.

Greg Salas has 12 targets over the past 4 games, Stephen Hill has 4. I listed at least 5 plays where Hill could have been targeted and was open but was not.

"Play #1: 2nd qtr 14:30 2nd and 16. Hill runs a quick in and his CB is totally turned around and ends up with his back to the play. Smith holds on to the ball then tries to throw it into triple coveage, Almost an interception."

This play in particular Stephen Hill was wide open and Smith forced it into triple coverage to try and get it to Salas. David Nelson has 56 YAC. On 20 catches. Salas is slightly better with 75 on 7 catches, But Nelson is just getting forced the ball in coverage and making the catch and getting tackled immediately.

Smith is not a good QB right now. We can't blame the WRs. I'm obviously a partial, But I've loved the kid since he did the J-E-T-S chant at the draft. Hill has heart he just needs a valid shot.

This is a surprise to me because I thought he had all of the tangibles to be a good receiver. The physical skills in all the categories. And at times he looked pretty good. But like Vern he doesn't have the intangibles. Not sure if the Jets will keep him after this season. There will be teams who might pick him up to see how he plays but unless he totally changes his mindset he won't be around very long.

hes actually missing the TANGIBLES. He cant catch, cant get open and cant run a route. Hes a very tangible bust

There is no way to say who Alshon Jeffery would be if the Jets selected him. Different coaches, different players surrounding and influencing a rookie, different systems, and different quarterbacks. Same could be said with Hill in Chicago...

Remember, the MO on Jeffery pre draft was he was he was slow, great hands, big, and questionable condition habits...

He ain't slow. Watch the games. You don't use slow guys on end-arounds, which the Bears call for him at least once per game.

The kid is a gangly beast who is able to burn guys deep, catch slants all day, and make contested catch after contested catch all over the field with multiple guys draped all over him.

It's called talent and ability. Josh Gordon has it. He dominates with guys like Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell, and Brian Hoyer throwing him the ball. It doesn't matter that much. If you think Stephen Hill in Chicago would put up Jeffery-type numbers, that's insane.

Stephen Hill's conditioning could be 10x better than Jerry Rice's, for argument's sake. He still can't play wide receiver to save his life...

    Stephen Hill in a nutshell.

His speed is somewhat negated by the fact that he can't fight his way through press coverage consistently. He's just not quick enough to make the CB miss and put him in recovery mode.

His height is negated by the fact that he is uncoordinated and can't manage the ball acquisition process. He doesn't know how to use his hands as a receiver. That makes his catch box about half the size it should be,

His elite physical characteristics are diminished further by the fact that he doesn't have an NFL receiver's instincts on the field. He can't create space for good opportunities because the defensive back is in control of the situation. The guy covering him knows what he is doing most of the time and Hill does not.

When the guy covering him does not know what he is doing or is too slow, well then Hill makes contributions because he big and fast and the guy covering him is at a big disadvantage.

Hill placed on Season Ending IR. Thought I would post this, cause otherwise, people would not be able to tell the difference on Sunday.
