I frankly cannot remember at all what the swill tasted like, but the old school Lowenbrau ads were bad ass. I mean, what's more sophisticated than Erik Estrada's sergeant rolling into the local Beefsteak Charlies after work with tickets to the big game and being the hero to all his pals in those pre-yuppie days? If that doesn't look like a swell time, you are not American.
Heh. Somewhere along the way beer commercials shifted to comedy. Forgetting that what we're really looking for is the one beer to have when we're having more than one.
Miller Lite I think was where that started. As for expensive tastes, ftr I don't drink expensive booze most of the time I have a drink. Not at all. Usually a nice glass of Red Label or some Irish like Tully, or a bourbon like Beam's Choice, is just fine with me.
So, I probably should replace the Laphroaig, seeing as it really wasn't for me to drink. But in addition to the general gnarliness of how it tastes, we are talking like $80 a bottle. It had been given to someone else and had been gathering dust for at least 6 months, so its not like I need to impress a big scotch snob, but I can't replace it with a handle of dewars either. What do you recommend? Something that doesn't taste like dirt, without the ridiculous price tag, but with enough snob appeal that I don't look like the cheap fuck I am.
Balvenie 14 Year Carribean Cask. Very smooth, great taste, really good story so just the right amount of snobbishness at about $65. My go-to single malt. _
Ha. I actually went for the Monkey Shoulder for less than half that. Dude will never know. I wasn't kidding about the cheap fuck part.
Monkey Shoulder is my other go-to. Also very smooth and an even better story, although it's a blend. Yeah I think by me its $33. _
Speyburn 10y.o. is my go-to cheap single malt, most liquor stores have it at under $35. for cheaper, i settle for any of the Johnnie Walker blends i've always enjoyed Laphroaig quarter cask with haggis, but usually have my whisky while smoking a cigar
Steak really? Give me Maine Lobster 24/7. Steak is overrated. I originally voted for Steak I think, but since have changed my mind. Steak gets old so fast.
I get my lobster for like 3.99/lb here int he summer. Dirt cheap. Don't care if it's foor poors. We grill those fuckers lol. Grilled tails with herb buttter mmm so good.
Seafood sucks as it is but nothing beats a properly grilled steak. Best steak I ever had was in Auckland, New Zealand at this place called Tony's Lord Nelson Restaurant. Ordered their Fillet Mexicano (basically a Filet Mignon with a spicy sauce). Came out perfectly cooked, a nice huge piece. The steak itself was to die for. So juicy and flavorful. Made me want to cry eating it because I know I'll never be back there again.
