Statring D

  1. I thought he had a few good games last year. I do think he is replaceable. W/ that said, keep in mind Parcells originally drafted him specifically to play DE in a 3-4, and he is one of our veteran leaders on defense.

I think Coleman will win. He seems to play very well when competing for his job (see his rookie year). I think a little competition is all he needs to be at his best

I was about to say... our OLB should be Hobson, Bowens or Thomas... Barton is an ILB but will prob get the boot by camp.

Barton has been an OLB every year up to last year.

He's the guy who drew the short straw to move inside next to Vilma in the 3-4.

  7. Believe it or not there was a year on the raiders(before they drafted Napoleon Harris) in which Barton played MLB, and if i'm not mistaken it was a 3-4 scheme.

I'll believe it. He's still mainly been an outside linebacker and a pretty good one when he doesn't see red and do stupid things like trying to decapitate the QB.

  9. I'd like to see him stick around, considering the Parcells school of thought of having diverse LB talent. It all depends on if he's willing to restructure his cap number. I'd much rather see him stay over a guy like Kassell or Chatham.

He's the closest thing we have to Bryan Cox right now and I'll be pissed if they cut him over a little thing like money when they were such cheapasses in free-agency.

BTW, I would not have been remotely as supportive of their sit on their hands strategy in free agency if I knew they were thinking about trading up in the draft. There are only so many sources of real talent in the NFL and if you're going to scorn the two main ones in the same year you're going to have issues competing.

Hobson Barton and Thomas were all solid last year. I thought Hobson finally became a solid starter as a weakside 3-4 backer this past year. I don't see any reason why we need to upgrade that position. He may not have the elite speed of a Ware, Merriman or that type of player, but he's great against the run, solid in coverage and he's a very smart player rushing the qb. While it's different then having an elite pass rusher having someone who is good in all facets gives the coaches more flexibility and it also makes the offense think more.

I wouldn't count on Pouha in any alignment myself, but I'm an admitted Pouha hater. I'd love if he became a nose, but I doubt it.

Why are you guys showing how the depth will look in a 4-3? It's not gonna happen.
