I feel the Jets/staff should have already known this, especially the Dolphins. Oh well, hopefully you guys are right.
I hate when people say it's a blessing to lose a game, well granted it taught Rex a fucking lesson to be prepared no matter what, take EVERYTHING into consideration, no excuse, for not fully preparing for the wildcat
I like one thing I saw. Hopefully a nice long rivalry between Sanchez and Henne. Sanchez had a good game, no picks I like what I saw of him. My guy Henne played all out. He looks to me to have learned a few things from Pennington. I see some old style QB duels in our teams futures.
Would be nice, as long as we come out on top, lol. As many Dolphin fans said, 1 good game does not make the player. Against SD he was horrific, against Buffalo only threw for 115, but he didn't have to do much. It was the god damn Jet that made people think he's the spawn of Marino, lol.
What you said in this case is only HALF truth. The week before the SD game the dolphins did not practice Chad Henne with the first team AT ALL. Remember what we had been doing up until that time. The plan was to start Pennington and activate Pat white as #2 QB so Chad Henne was not prepared. He knows the playbook, but it would have really helped if he had some reps with the first team that week. I am not making excuses for the loss. It's always possible we would have lost regardless but what has to be said is that Henne was not prepared to come in that game.
Either way, just as we were told to put our erections away, the same can be said about everyone jumping on Henne's sack, lol If they both work out that'd be great, the more misery for the Pats the better. They need to suffer for years and years after the crap they pulled and did to us.
You're right. At this point in time most Dolphin fans are hopeful that we finally found our QB just like you found yours. I don't think anyone is proclaiming him our savior yet although it would be nice. I would gladly leave take away the God-King title from Sean Smith and bestow it upon him(Henne).
I don't think you're going to see old style QB duels with Henne back there. You're right, he learned some things from Pennington. He managed the game perfectly and dinked and dunked with great finesse, and was able to make one big throw when necessary. I just don't see him as the kind of guy who is going to be asked to air it out frequently with R&R in the backfield, and that's a good thing for you guys. I still have little to no faith in his ability to be a Top 15 QB in this league, and playing in that system likely hinders his development if he even has the potential to become one.
Henne's poise impressed me a lot, especially coming in after sporadic insertions of the wildcat. The kid has an arm and he threw some lasers that I wasn't expecting. I think you guys may have found that answer at QB that you have been hoping for after all of these years. But you have to look out for these young guys once teams get enough film on them. Sanchez looked like the miracle rookie until the Saints had 3 weeks of tape on the guy and all of a sudden, whammo, 3 picks and a letdown. It will be interesting to see how Henne develops. But please forgive me for hoping that he is a 1 game wonder.
Yes, it'll be interesting to see how he develops on the sideline for 15% of the offensive snaps in every game and with very little need to ever actually make a play.
If they can develop him slowly in that aspect, it could work out very well for the Phins. I'm trying not to be a homer here, the guy showed flashes of an excellent developing QB on Monday night. We already knew about his arm strength, but I wasn't ready for some of the pressure plays he made on the run against the Jets. It could end up being a detriment to his development, allowing a split in time behind center with Ricky and Ronnie, but the way the Dolphins are building this team on offense, the whole approach is very unorthodox. Some teams trick the league with the unorthodox approach and once the rest of the league figures it out, they get exposed and fail. And every once in a while, a team will take the unorthodox approach and develop it into an entire philosophy at the pro level, and they change the game. Here's hoping that the Phins fail in that respect.
I said it when it happened... Chad Pennington going down was the best thing in the world for Miami... No way does Chad complete that long TD that was a killer and I doubt he connect on a few of those 3rd down lazers.... Henne was really the difference and not what rex expected.. But, Miami played Out Of This World At home in a game where their backs were against the wall... In the NFL teams like that win A LOT.. The shoe will be on the other foot in NY - Look forward to that game.. And really the Jets need to Sweep the Next 3 games.
