Godzilla was a terrible mess of a movie, but a well directed terrible mess of a movie. If the exposition of Godzilla was the fault of the writers and not the director, I can't wait for Rogue Squadron. If Edwards was the problem and he butchered a good screenplay, even though he staged some outstanding stand alone scenes, then I'll pass.

Complaining about a Godzilla screenplay is like complaining about a porno flicks screenplay.

You may buy that she would want to blow the hairy refrigerator repairman, but it's just not realistic.

The article said stand alone movie. Note that Disney owns the franchise they will probably be popping out Star Wars movies as quickly as they are the Marvel ones

Yes, the plan is one Star Wars movie a year with the standalone movies in between the regular episode movies.

but what's a "stand alone" move? just some random plot with star wars in it? is it the same budget and scale or some made for TV half assed thing

Rogue 1 is about the squad who stole the plans for the original Death Star. It takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope (which is the original Star Wars for the non Star Wars types). speculation is its going to be grittier than the rest of the Star Wars movies. A lot of talent from Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, and Zero Dark Thirty are involved in this movie. It's going to be big budget. Disney isn't going to let their second SW movie be a half assed project. They have too much at stake riding on this franchise.

Furthermore, this is allegedly going to be the first Star Wars movie that doesn't have Jedi in it.

it's going to be big budget fare; simply side stories to the main story line of the film series which is focused on Jedi vs the Empire.

Can't wait for a gritty Star Wars. Empire is the best one because it's gritty. I remember reading a book about bounty hunters when I was a kid and loving how dark and violent the Star Wars world felt. They need to make that with the movies. Stop catering it to 8 year olds.

I remember as a kid liking empire the least of the three because they didn't beat the bad guys in the end. But that first sequence in the winter landscape was awesome and then everything dragged in yoda land

Guy, it's owned by Disney now. The grittiest you are going to get is a new gay Jedi knight

I wouldn't say that I'm the hugest Star Wars fan, but the IP sucked me into playing almost all of their video games and reading a few of the now non-canonical novels. Been wondering, does anyone think that that:

    (1) Kylo Ren may be Revan from Knights of the Old Republic, et al? and,
    (2) Rogue One, which is supposedly about the theft of the plans for the first Death Star, will include appearances of Starkiller from Force Awakens?

I know both are outside shots, but I have a feeling that even though the heroes are the starfighter pilots, we might see Starkiller in Rogue One. Either way, really amped!

Since I have know idea what the earthly fuck you are talking about, I'll just go ahead and assume you really are the hugest Star Wars fan.
