So Coles made a couple of comments, weeks ago. This is only still a story as long as the beat writers keep it alive. He wants more money. Who doesn't? Football is his job. If you felt you deserved a raise from your job, should we all openly judge you for it. I haven't seen him demand a trade, threaten to sit out the season, or rat to the league on the FO or anything. The guy was just upset to see so much money going to new players and felt he deserves more too. That's not a crime.

Think of it this way. If you worked a minimum wage job at $5.05 and hour and got a $.10 raise each year. And two years later they raise minimum wage to $5.25 so now even after the 2 years you have put in, new hires are making just as much as you, you would be upset. The salary cap has jumped so high these last couple years since Coles originally signed his deal it's only natural for players like him to feel like they should get more too.

It's like mortgage rates changing. He wants to refinance under the new market conditions.

Why don't we let this play out before jumping to conclusions on who's right and who's wrong and whether or not we need Coles. As of right now he's on the team and our #1 WR. He's still a very good player and we need him. We should all just leave his contract negotiations between himself and the team.

I don't get Coles' stance. He has 2 years left on his contract and he says the Jets have been "stringing him along" for 2 years. So with 4 years left on his contract he was already looking to renegotiate?? Why would he think the Jets would do something like that?

I can understand him trying to extort money like this. He's done it twice before and it's worked both times so why not do it again. But this is ridiculous. This money grab stuff is complete garbage. If he wants an extension after this year then be a good soldier, come to voluntary workouts and have a great year. But if he insists on going this route, put up with his garbage by completely ignoring it, and force him to honor the last 2 years. He knows if he wants another pay day, he has to put up the numbers. After that get rid of him and let another team listen to his ridiculous demands.

Coles is fine. He pulls this stuff every 3 years, so no one gives a s**t anymore. We stopped owing him anything the day he left for Washington. He can play and get paid or sit out and get nothing. Either way, we will draft a WR. He has a tremendous heart, but he has held up the Jets organization too many times and he's not going to get away with it with concussions and a bad foot. He has 2 years left at best. Prepare to not get paid LC.
