    Can I call him Jeremiah?

If so, I like the signing better. "Yeremiah" always bugged me.

To be fair, he can call me "Yob"

Hmm, so many SSes, if you put Eric Smith in that category.

Tebow was very odd as you noted. I thought the Sparano hiring was odd considering his lack of OC experience. I thought that not addressing the RT position at all in FA or the draft was odd although I recognize we had too many holes to fill all of them this offseason. I think that stockpiling a bunch of in the box SS's while ignoring the FS position is odd considering it was lack of coverage ability where we were lacking most at the S position.

I would add, in no particular order:

Letting Turner go with no real replacement.
Letting Hunter's contract go guaranteed without even trying to renegotiate
Adding another year guaranteed to Sanchez's contract, then trading for Tebow
LT retiring but not being replaced
    The whole Stanton deal

Then there's the more gray area stuff like

    Doing nothing about Keller
Doing nothing about the OG positions
Doing nothing about ROLB other than bringing Thomas back
    Conley is still the punter?

And let's not forget that Sparano was supposed to be paired with Todd Haley, but when Haley said no, Sparano became responsible for the passing game by default.

Yep. This off season. Never seen anything like it.

    Never.

what FS' were available this offseason? didn't we draft a couple?

Sparano made sense b/c it was to help Sanchez get better and back more like '10 than '11. We all would have loved a new RT but they weren't reaching for one or overpaying anyone in FA. They gave Wayne a new deal last year b/c they thought he could be a quality starter, it's dangerous to throw a guy out a year later b/c he had a bad year.

"This message is hidden because nyjunc is on your ignore list."

Don't tell me - our very own representative from the Jet Press Office has opined on the subject.

    Saved you the trouble.

The deal isn't too bad. And come to think of it, with the long history Landry has, might end up being worth it. So we still have no FS?

Don't get me wrong. Bell is, on balance, not a bad player. I don't even think the price is way off.

But he's NOT the answer to what the Jets need at safety. It's my understanding TE's like Gronk and Hernandez ate him alive, which is not surprising since Keller owned his sorry slow ass, too.

It just looks like the latest in what is becoming the Miami Connection.

On top of everything else, it has me down. I think I need to take the weekend off.

It's a wonder you still haven't taken the hint when they traded for Tebow.

Wow - people "internet hate" each other so much that you can block from seeing their posts?

It might be my misguided logic but isn't the board about seeing other peoples opinions?

You guys are all talking like Bell is going to start. He's a depth signing, and some insurance in case Landry's injury history becomes a problem this year.

He's a veteran presence to mentor our newly drafted safeties. Veteran leadership, that was sorely lacking on this team last year.

he is a pathetic, gutless poster. Not only is he afraid to debate me(b/c I, like everyone else makes him look like a fool) but he also continues to mention that he has me on ignore which is even more gutless.

Who does everybody expect this “FS” to be that they wanted brought in???? Theres no one out there people. Maybe OJ Atogwe, but he’s old, injury prone, and nothing special at all... This magical FS wasnt going to be filled this offseason.

We upgraded the safety position and Eric Smith wont be a full time player. Thats great if you ask me... Landry (if healthy) and Bell is a lot better tandem than Leohnard and Smith... and Smith/Bell adds great depth and we have two rookies who can learn and play in subpackages.

Only Jets fans could bring out a negative in something like this... oh well.

I'm just confused as to why the hell we seem to be stockpiling strong safeties. Landry and bell are both SS's that struggle in coverage. I'll give you that we upgraded over smith but we've actually downgraded at FS. All we have right now is a 6th round rookie. Is that who's going to slow down gronk?

The Landry non-participation is a big problem for me. It's tough for the team because of the rules, but if he doesn't want to be a team player, why did he sign here?

Landry/Bell cannot play at the same time on certain downs? This is a serious question btw.
