Seattle's no. 10 overall and the Darnold 2nd to Houston for Watson. Those are simply 'bonus' picks anyway. By adding DeShaun Watson and drafting the Oregon pass rusher with the no. 4 overall, the Jets contend for the division and wildcard in 2022.
for starters, read literally any report about what it will cost any team that wants to trade for DeShaun… At least three firsts, more draft capital and a young player. That makes your package completely unrealistic. Second, somehow you’ve managed to miss the fact that Watson already had meetings with teams and has turned three of them down. Why in gods name would you play here? Especially when we are going to be gutting The draft cupboard. And if you replace a Wilson with Watson right now we still don’t contend for the division and maybe make it to the wildcard. it’s a bad and unrealistic idea.
Actually what the Br*dy extension means he will count $24M against the cap in 2023 even though he is not on the team. The money spread across those voided years does not just go away. Are you really thinking the money against the cap just disappears? I think Douglas has not had to do many similar deals as this because the Jets are not in win now mode yet. Besides the fact, it is deals like that which can get a team into trouble with the cap. Read this article for a little more insight into dead money on the cap. https://en.as.com/en/2021/09/02/nfl... Philadelphia Eagles, the NFL with $49 million.
That’s just an unrealistic trade package. All the signs point to Texans wanting multiple 1s (and to not send him to another AFC team) and why on earth would Deshaun want to come to the Jets with his no trade clause? & with what’s going on, would he be able to survive the NYC spotlight? And what would we do with Zach? Relegate him to backup?
Names to watch out for IMO. Danielle Hunter Robert Woods Tyler Lockett I know twitter is buzzing about DK (I would be thrilled), but I just don't see it happening.
Robert Woods would be an amazing addition and really put a bow on this FA class. X factor has an article on him. https://jetsxfactor.com/2022/03/18/ny-jets-need-trade-robert-woods/
well you got it all figured out, that's good, but we will see what Houston actually gets for him. And Watson turned down who? Cleveland, allegedly. Yeah, I wouldnt wanna work & live in Cleveland either. This is the New York Jets, its about time they start acting like it, just my opinion
This thread is talking about a 'big trade' though. Robert Woods, off a torn ACL, is just an average move, I dont think it qualifies as a big trade.
Yes. And it would take an absolute haul of draft picks and players to get him. And he'd have to sign off on it. Not happening.
Trading three first round picks plus more picks plus a young player for a quarterback Who hasn’t played in a year and is facing 22 civil suits for sexual assault that maybe puts us in wildcard contention would be acting like the Jets to a T. I just don’t know why you actively want them to act like the Jets.
I won’t disagree here. Woods does close to nothing for me. He’s about to be 30 and coming off a season ending injury. He has a nice contract but he’s not the addition that makes us confident in our receiver room. That would’ve been Amari Cooper but…
megatron never did it alone though. he had marvin jones and golden tate most of his career. they had a solid 3 Wrs. they just had no run game, bad coaching and no defense
not exactly true. They had no run game and no defense but Calvin Johnson’s three first team all pro seasons came in the three years before Golden Tate even got there. After Johnson the most legitimate receiving threat was the corpse of Nate Burleson, Who didn’t make it through half of each of Johnson’s last two all pro seasons.
you can make the point that tate didn't do much there and even jones took a few years before he provided help and was banged up too. I think it's actually a legit point he did do it alone, i remembered their offenses being better for some reason. I think the big change for him was stafford, after staffords rookie year was when CJ started really going off had nothing to do with the supporting cast
he wasnt very tuned in last year ... https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-2021-nfl-mock-draft-4-0-broncos-patriots-trade-up-for-qbs
