Cooks is so overrated on here. The kid was inconsistent and unhappy with Drew Brees as his QB, can only imagine how he'd react to coming here. It wouldn't be good.

I agree about your draft picks, but you may disagree with me when I say the Jets should trade down their draft picks to actually get more picks.

Cooks is young and has a lot of upside, Belichick is interested in him also. But I think it makes no sense investing in a receiver until the Jets are set up with a franchise QB for the future. The Saints by the way are not going to part ways with Cook for nothing. Besides the Jets offensive line in my opinion is more of a priority than WR for the Jets.

I wouldn't swap in the 1st or 2nd round, but would in the 3rd. I like the creativity, however.

I would be shocked beyond words if the Jets got a 2nd round pick for him, much less multiple picks, but I sure hope you're right!!! If he still has that much worth, then we ought to be able to work something out with the Saints if they like his ability, but if not, getting a couple of extra picks for that cretin would be awesome!

The thing is, they wouldn't plummet. In NO, Cooks was having to share receptions with 2 other WRs, the TE and their RB. Here, he'd have 1 other WR (Enunwa) that would be a primary target, and Anderson to a much less degree than either NO WR. The Saints throw the ball to their RBs a lot, the Jets less so, unless Morton changes that. Unless the Jets add a TE who is an excellent receiver, Cooks would be our best receiver and probably the primary target with the Jets unless the OL just gave our QB no time to throw the ball. He should definitely get 90-100 receptions a year.

I totally disagree. The only thing that's "overrated" about Cooks is his being a malcontent.

If the Pats get Cooks, the rest of the NFL might as well forget about the Lombardi Trophy until Brady retires. If Cooks truly is unhappy in NO, then the Saints are making a BIG mistake imo. They will lose him next year and get only a 3rd round compensatory pick.

You're right about the OL being more of a priority than WR, but unfortunately, and is typical for Jets' luck, this isn't really the draft to find their future LT and probably not to find their future C, either. If they're looking, they may be able to get a RT who could beat out Shell, but I don't think they'll look to take a RT. I think they're pretty high on Shell, and both OG positions are set. I think Mac will possibly look to upgrade the depth at OG. I know I would, but I'm not sure he will with all the other needs the Jets have. If he does, I think it will be in FA.

Closed mouths don’t get fed! Totally something he should've kept to himself or in the locker room.

Most people here will agree with trading back for more picks. It's been a fairly common opinion on the board that we need to try to do just that.
You may know since you probably have more access to Patriot news, what was the package offered to the Saints. We know it was the 32 pick in round one but what were the 2 picks offered from next year's draft along with it?

Cook's seems to be in something of a Twitter war with a few of the Saints offensive players now so maybe that will drop the Saints asking price a little.

Tony it is my understanding it was just the 32 pick and the Saints wanted more. Keep in mind this news is rumor and has not been confirmed.

I could be wrong, but there are some good nasty interior lineman in this draft. I say this for a reason. Protecting the QB up the middle is vital. This is what gives a QB the chance to step up in the pocket, see the field better, and have actual passing lanes to throw from. Who knows maybe some of those nasty interior lineman may pan out to be tackles?

A team in my opinion can never have enough OL in a team. The more the better, especially in a league where you are one play from being out for the season. I say stock up in OL in the later rounds. The more draft selections the better your chance for finding a gem. The Jets need to design their team for cold weather play, which means smash mouth football.

Let say the Jets are not a playoff team next year, but they are a punishing team that nobody wants to play. As a Jets fan would that not give you some sort of satisfaction? Your not going to beat the Patriots being a finesse team. You need to be nasty and physical! Where else to start but in the middle of your offensive line?

Lamp is a very good prospect. There are a few others. The thing is, Mac is on record as having said on several occasions that he doesn't believe in using high draft picks on the OL. Of course he does for LT, but for the other positions, or at least the interior 3, I don't think he would, so Lamp is probably out. I agree with you that the interior is important. Carpenter's pretty good and Winters is still improving. I think C is the only spot where we might see a little higher draft pick be used to compete with Wesley Johnson.

I will be shocked if the Jets are a playoff team in 2017, and maybe not in 2018. That will depend upon whether Hack or Petty develop imo, and as long as Bowles is HC, all bets are off. To answer your question, yes, I would be pleased to see the young players progressing, developing, playing tough, hardnosed (nasty), smart football. I'll know then we are on the right track.

    Thanks.
I read several reports it was a package including the 32 pick plus 2 picks next year.
I'm surprised the Patriots would actually trade for him. Not really their type of move. The pick for his talent is a no brainier , but him wanting to be the highest paid Reciever in the NFL just doesn't seem to make sense for NE. The trade essentially becomes a one year rental.

If it's Sheldon + our Comp pick for Cook I would do it and release Decker.

    Cook, Enunwa, Anderson, Peake, Marshall

    I think it's a solid young core
