The head coach is responsible when the team twice doesn't put a body back to receive. Some on this board wrongly blame the special teams coach. Just another example why Rex is a good coordinator but is clueless as a head coach. Makes about as much sense as Herm Edwards hiring Dick Curl to coordinate "clock management." Morons. If Woody had any balls he'd fire his idiotic coach who tried to justify why twice he didn't have anyone there to receive a punt. As for Gates I've never seen worse cement hands. Rex's next move is to chirp "Clyde gives us the best chance to win!"

The decision was made to try to block the punt, since they had a rookie punter and we had our backup punt returner going up against a team that specializes in creating turnovers. If we had blocked one of those punts, we'd have excellent field position and it could win us the game, and everyone would be talking about what a genius move it was and they'd be asking why don't we always do that. Herm at least recognized that he was horrible at clock management and tried to rectify that by hiring someone just to focus on that. If we fire Rex, the defense would take a nose dive and then we'd have a terrible offense plus an average defense, and we'd be winning 4 games a season for the next 2 - 3 years. No thanks, I like our odds better with Rex. Gates does have cement hands. He couldn't catch a cold in a TB ward. Rex has no attachment to Gates- look for Spadola to get a shot in Week 3 and for Gates to be benched. Or cut if we can get somebody else, but Braylon is injured, and there just aren't many options out there. I don't think you can really compare the Gates situation to Sanchez, but I am also frustrated and know what you mean. Hopefully they can bring in someone else and Gates could be let go.
