I like DRob but he was better suited to a 4-3 or a DE in the 3-4. I don't blame the Jets for getting rid of him sicne it clears up a lot of cap space but I hope he succeeds with Cincinatti.

I think if Robertson didnt have such a horrible salary we may have gotten a higher pick because no one wants to pay 11 mill to someone who hasnt been that good

We should have gotten more for this. a 3rd or a 5th at LEAST if not a 3rd and a 4th. What a rip off. The guy is a good player. He was gonna restructure anyway.

What are you basing your theory on? How does Robertson's play distinguish him from other DT's who commanded similar packages?

What about him sets him apart from the rest of the pack?

Outside of the time he played alongside Ferguson, what in his gameplay has led you to conclude that he's a "good player?"

If the Bengals trade doesnt work out, what about a trade with the Broncos considering this. They, Broncos are likely to release this guy.

Broncos DT Thomas busted on drug charge in Florida

ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Denver Broncos defensive tackle Marcus Thomas was arrested after police said they found cocaine and a handgun in a pickup truck during a traffic stop in north Florida.

Thomas, of Aurora, Colo., and the truck's driver were arrested early Saturday after police received a call from the Florida Highway Patrol asking them to look for the pickup truck for a possible impaired driver.

Thomas was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The police report said both men denied any knowledge of the cocaine. Police also said a semiautomatic pistol was seen inside the glove box of the pickup truck.

Both men were released from jail Sunday after each posted a $2,500 bond, jail officials said.

Thomas' attorney, Charles Truncale, said his client was in a vehicle when police found a small bag of what appeared to be cocaine.

"He did not possess it, nor did he have any knowledge of it, until the stop of the vehicle. That's what happened. He is not guilty of the charge for which he has been arrested," Truncale said.

Thomas, who also played for the University of Florida and Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, was suspended most of his final college season in 2006 after a positive drug test, then for violating curfew and drug rehabilitation class provisions of a contract he signed to remain with the team.

Thomas, drafted in the fourth round last April, just finished his rookie season with the Broncos and had 20 tackles in 16 games.

The angry Robertson crowd is basing their theory that the Jets should have gotten more on the idea that a player who was drafted number 4 overall is a great player. While Robertson was drafted 4 overall, hes been extremely ordinary in 4 full seasons in this league. Getting a 4th and a 5th for an ordinary player whose a poor fit for in the 3-4, in addition to saving 9 million in the process, is a great deal.

Last reports before this trade, said that the Jaguars, Broncos and Bengals were all interested in D'Wayne. How stupid is Detroit?Instead of trading for Vilma, they have Dan Morgan coming in to visit.

I just don't know. I think we are not getting enough for DRob. I think if we can't get a 3rd and a 4th then we should probably keep DRob for the '08 season if we can renegotiate his contract a bit.

This way DRob would be moved to an End position where he may just surprise us. He may be able to showcase his skills in '08 and be worth more on the market next year.

The $3M Roster bonus on June 1st is the rough spot. We could end up cutting the guy and get nothing for him.

Unfortunately, Tangini might be on the hook for a blunder here.

If the trade goes through, I think it is fair. The compensation for the other big DTs was as follows; Rogers for a 3rd and player, Jenkins for a 3rd and 5th, Stroud for a 3rd and 5th. Each of these players have multiple pro bowls on their respective resumes. DRob can't boast the kind of production these players have, not to mention his bone on bone knee condition. Plus after the Jenkins signing and allowing Drob to look for a trade, other teams know we no longer want any part of him and would likely release him anyway if he refused to re-negotiate. A 4th and a 5th sounds good to me...

    1. DRob as a 3-4 DE just does not work. He's a pancake in the making for tackles.

    2. Kris Jenkins and Marcus Stroud >>>>>>>>>>>> DRob and they didn't get much more than we did.

    3. He'd be a very expensive situational player for us in the long run, and that doesn't seem right.

I'll say this from having watched thomas when he was at florida: if he EVER gets his act together, he will be a pro bowler. This guy has all the tools to be a star DT.
