Could see a good shot at Callahan gettin promoted if we see another year of Schotty turning our offense into a circus
I think they're doing this with the idea that another successful year could mean good-bye to Schotty and Pettine... and my feeling is that Callahan and Thurman are their heir's...
This may sound selfish...but i'm glad the Jets turned down the Titans. I want Callahan to be here to coach up Ducasse, because he's worked wonders with M.Slauson. Callahan deserves to further his career like anybody else.....but....I'd prefer him to stay with the Jets.
i hope this doesn't cause bad blood between callahan and rex. also i hope this serves notice to schotty that his replacement is already here so get the shit right
If he turns Ducasse into our starting RT than we'd have a young and talented 4/5 of the OL + Moore. When he does that we can let him further his career... plus isn't Callahan the assist HC? I think that means something in terms of retribuition...
I'm happy that Callahan will still be here, but that's kind of a dick move to not give him the chance to interview for a promotion.
meh, I don't think so. The Jets want to keep their CS intact. These guys are under contract. I think the requested coach has a say in this as well. I can see both DT and Callahan liking it here a whole lot more. They may have opportunities to advance in the coaching ranks, but why would they leave this awesome team and their boss is the coolest motherfucker in the NFL. I'd stay too. And DT/Cally are two guys who are really happy as position coaches. They both have playcalling duties already.
Kind of dinkish to deny Callahan a promotion but I'd like us to keep this staff in tact as long as possible. Callahan has done an outstanding job as our OL coach, I've wanted him to be our OC for a while now.
I'd like to remind everyone that Manish is the coolest beat writer ever to live. I tweeted my assumption that the Jets were allowed to decline permission because "Asst HC" outranks "OC" He sent me a PM that only the HC promotion can override permission.
Could be considered a dick move but after how we have seen the CS operate with each other, I don't think that the Jets would have done this without consulting Callahan first. If he said he wanted to stay with the team, not reason to give the Titans permission to talk to a guy who is going to turn them down. I hope no bad blood comes of this but I'm glad Callahan will still be with the Jets. We'll probably have at least one new starter on the OLine next season so even if they didn't discuss it with Callahan, I can understand the Jets' reasoning for wanting to keep the best OLine coach in the league under contract to help with the protection for the franchise QB.
