He'd be better than Jason Hill. I'd be all about it. Maybe send em a couple late rounders. A 3 might be too much. Bowe has 1 year left, Holmes is injured for 1 year. It's a suitable replacement while we figure out what to do with Holmes. If Bowe performs better, then we resign him and send Holmes packing.
Only if he agreed to sign a cheap extension, Keller agreed to a cheap extension, and Bart Scott/Sanchez both took a pay cut. If all of those happened, then definitely.
There have been rumors of him coming to south beach for the past year. I hope to god we don't trade for him without working out an extension first
for anything higher than a 5th no. in other words, I would not offer anything near his value for him. Bowe is a talented guy who is thowing a fit about his situation. Not exactly someone I want to bring into the Mess that is the NY media. We need to start to add in younger, cheaper, peices this year. Not another vet on the verge of wanting to get paid.
This off-season, they can cut him and can still save 1.2 million, the season after, he's gone and we can save 8.2 instead. I guess Tanny (if still here) would bite the bullet this off-season. I doubt Holmes will restructure. By the way dude, don't baby Stephen Hill please, let the kid play - he needs the reps and he's getting plenty of experience - that would be in the best interest of the Jets. Sure he's raw, but that didn't stop the Jets from starting Mark Sanchez. He's our most talented WR out there right now - you have to play him. Jets should build off their young weapons in Hill, Kerley, and Chaz Schilens (as long as he can stay healthy).
Santonio for Bowe, even if Bowe goes elsewhere, Hill and Kerley are young talent that can mold well with Sanchez. Santonio is selfish and Sanchez feels the need to feed him the ball, and we all know when Santonio doesnt get his looks or touches on the ball, he cries...get him the fuck outta here!
Bowe would help Sanchez tremendously. Just throw it anywhere in his vicinity and he will come down with it. I'd throw a 3rd or a 4th at the guy if he says he will resign with us.
How about Holmes for Bowe straight up? One guy is on IR and the other just quit on his team. Perfect match made in heaven, no? Joke aside, not this year, and if Chefs franchise Bowe again (like they are supposed to) then how about Holmes for Bowe straight up next year? Dwayne Bowe/Stephen Hill at WR looks quite sexy actually. And you get rid of that steaming pile of horse shit that is Holmes. (That in itself is a bonus, I admit.) Nobody would throw 1st and 3rd for Bowe, and frankly, I don't see any other team trying to poach Bowe either. (Nobody likes quitter after all.) So why should Jets go after a quitter? Who cares? The WR corp is so bad anyway. And when was the last time this franchise placed premium on the attitude of the player? Last time I checked, those with good attitude toward the team were either allowed to walk or retire, without anybody suitable behind to replace.
After KC basically whiffed on Cassel (#34 overall pick) I can't see them taking another shot on Tebow. It could set them back another 3-4 years if it doesn't work out.
... And how did that workout in the end? We moved a draft pick and let him walk when it came item to resign him. Bowe is going to get paid and paid a lot. We are not in the position to give him a highend long term deal, so moving a pick for him will only hurt us twice.
Sanchez for Bowe and Quinn. We dump a lot of salary, upgrade our Qb at a cheaper price and can get a draft pick for Bowe when he goes FA. It would never happen but if your a conspiracy theorist onecould see believe in a Bowe for Sanchez as then Woody gets Tebow to start and it explains the O'Donnell visit,
As bad as Sanchez has been, he's much better than Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn COMBINED. And losing Bowe for a compensatory 3rd round pick (which is a glorified 4th round pick) is a fail written all over it.
Because Collingsworth says he quit on the play it makes it true? The ball was well behind him and over his head. If you watch the replay of it, he has to stop turn and jump but realizes it is way over his head, Lewis was 3 yards behind him and still had to go fully extended while jumping 3 feet in the air. It's not like Palko was on the mark that game. Why throw your hands in the air at a pass that is way out of reach?
