That end zone play was by the book Pass Interference. Was a bullshit no-call. Should've been up 7-3 there not gonna fault Tannenbaum for not drafting Edleman as Edleman wouldn't have amounted to jack shit here, or anywhere really, without Brady. Also, I don't believe a team should EVER draft a punter. In discussion of that draft I'm more upset about the only 3 selections... and the Mark Sanchez selection than anything else
Does this mean Rex coach hell of great games in the previous 4 games against the Pats when we loss by 3 points or less with a talent deprived roster.
Those previous 4 games one could argue that Brady didn't have his 'A' game. He was perfect yesterday, and Ivory was hurt.
I'm not making the argument, however I acknowledge it could be made. I agree with you especially in 2014. Rex literally coached the game of his life two times, and did it totally with smoke and mirrors, devoid of any talent in the secondary, and with the worst QB in franchise history. It just left the team & fanbase emotionally drained.
A HC that has only coached 6 games was outcoached by the best HC in the game and a future HOF'er.. Would have NEVER saw that coming would we....[/QUOTE]What I should had said was some dumb coaching calls on D. Like that 3rd and 17. He should had blitz Brady and made him get rid of the ball early. That was the game changer. Plus when he didn't call any timeouts with under 2 min to go. Plus that all out blitz and nobody covered Gronk.
You're right on all points Geno. Just gets real annoying when folks ignore certain facts to fit a certain narrative. 6 games into his HC career and Bowles is suddenly expected to be better than Belichek. That's not only unrealistic, its ludicrous.
While Brady indeed makes Edelman the receiver. Edelman's elusiveness and quickness makes Edelman the football player, i.e. he's a bigger version of Wes Welker. That said, I was speaking more about Tannenbaum trading away picks (and team depth) from 2007-2010. As for drafting a punter, let's agree to disagree. I see nothing wrong with drafting a Ray Guy Award winner/candidate punter down in rounds 6-7 and in some special cases I'd maybe consider a 5th. Secure a consistent, reliable punter and you're set for years. The New England Patriots who even after drafting Zoltan Mesko with a 5th round pick didn't stand pat when they saw an opportunity to upgrade the position by grabbing 2x Ray Guy Award winner Ryan Allen who ended up beating out Mesko. Do not secure that position and you will have the New York Jets revolving door of punters: many one-year wonders; most of them bums: - Dan Stryzinski (jag) - Toby Gowin (jag) - Ben Graham (Aussie) - Reggie Hodges (journeyman retread) - Steve Weathersford (2 yrs. and gone) - T.J. Conley (the worst of the bunch - a bum with inflated stats coming out of Idaho) - Robert Malone - Ryan Quigley (nice kid, very so-so NFL leg)
No, I think in 2014 Rex schemed the game of his life (twice) and Brady didn't have his 'A' game. Yesterday Bowles called a good game, not perfect, but Brady played lights out.
Lets hope he has learned from this game. Plus not mention Fitz throwing the ball over the middle with 12 seconds to go. I believe he should had thrown to the sidelines and if he didnt complete a pass then bring in Geno to throw the hail mary.
Lol. There a thread on bringing Geno in and I stayed out of that. Hell I would be all for bringing Petty in to throw the hail mary. Just bring in anybody who could reach the endzone. It no sercert that Fitz doesn't have a strong arm. Shit bring in Revis to throw it if he can get to the endzone.
I think a lot of people would have brought him in to throw that ball if the pass over the middle was incomplete.
Its rare that the Pats blow us out...we're always in the game and find a way to lose against them. Its getting really old
its a forum dude the purpose of it is to discuss the game...what should we say wow great game Im so happy we didnt get blown out? Hell no thats a loser red headed step child mentality...We had the game won and pissed it away with mental errors and timid playcalling
Ah, the old "Your fans are all fair-weather fans" trope. It was an expected reply, but it still does the job.
