I would wager that a very large majority of their fan base could not tell you anything about that franchise pre-2001 and the rest probably couldn't tell you anything pre-Parcells.
This is why I love fans. Completely ignoring the fact that Edelman beat Revis like a rented mule and dropped a way easier TD than Marshall. Add another 9 or so drops but hey that had nothing to do with it. I don't know why "you should've won". Nothing in that game suggest that you should have done that.
Seriously, what's with some of these posters? Were you expecting us to go 15-1? We had to lose to somebody, and there's no shame in the one we lost to. A home-home split with NE would still be awesome considering how good they are. But despite the fact that we're going to lose 6 times, you guys go off about every one. If it's a good team, it's "same old Jets can't beat good teams!". If it's a bad team it's "same old Jets come out flat vs a bad team!" I understand that some of you guys have been dealing with this a lot longer than I have, and I understand that it's frustrating to not get over the hump vs New England, but can we not overreact to every single loss? The reality is we're 4-2 with a favorable upcoming schedule and a conference that currently features 5 teams with winning records. Realistically we have to go 6-4 (5-5?) to get a wild card spot and the schedule makes that very manageable. I'll be back tomorrow when the storm passes.
Exactly what I expected. Good effort, kept it close but not enough in the end. The Pats offense is just amazing.
We lost to the Pats sure but hey guess what so has everyone else it's like the Mets in the past we always came up behind the Braves we will have our time. Bring back Walter Powell I mean please our punt return is dreadful and has been dead since we had Santana Moss it kills me....Edelman tore us a part imagine if we had a decent heck any sort of special teams return we would be all that much better. Send Cumb packing the guy should have had that early TD and is absolutely useless he blows so bad it hurts. Please for the love of God use a draft pick on a punter...can that ruin us going forward...hell no...draft a damn punter that would be such a huge boost if we have a guy who we can rely on...it feels like its been decade's since we had a good punter...I'm not asking for a pro bowl QB all I'm asking is for a punter lol I didn't expect to win today we're far ahead of expectations and in playoff position I'll take it.
A HC that has only coached 6 games was outcoached by the best HC in the game and a future HOF'er.. Would have NEVER saw that coming would we....
U R not serious R U? Belly was just soooooooooooooooooooooo much smarter then Todd in devising a game plan that tired out our PR so that on D was so weak on D in the4th qtr. Give Belly many kudos for his plan vs our plan at least in the game played yesterday
I don't think you understand the concept of "same old jets." Losing to the SB Champions on the road is not same old jets. its the opposite idea in fact.. The "same old Jets" would've ran through NE looking like world beaters. Something like 31-14 Jets. At 5-1 atop the division the league would be abuzz with just how awesome the Jets look... only to see them show up flat the following week in Oakland and lose a close one. And then piss away the game with a poor Jacksonville team @home the week after with self inflicted mistakes to drop to 5-3 and give a commanding division lead BACK to NE on their own accord. That is "same old" typical Jets.
More like the same annoying Jet fans that think the season is over after one game. Same ol Jets don't exist, it's the same ol Jets fans.
What did you expect Champ? A Rookie HC went head to head with the best HC in the game today and his team lost. If you're gonna hate on Bowles for that, then just keep on hating forever cause NOTHING will ever be good enough for you short of a SB. Same old Jet Fan. Sounds strange coming from me...
Look...all we proved is that we can only take care of the bad teams and will fold against the elite teams. That should still be good enough for a decent record and a 1st round playoff exit...which will generate a lot of money for ownership. Yiy guys need to see the bigger picture.
I don't agree with this. Tom Brady is the best QB of all time, but for a few mistakes, we would have won. But when you're playing the best you have to have a clean sheet, and the best has to be off his game. Like Bowles said, this is just the 6th game of the season. Next week IMO and how we bounce back is going to be more telling of how the season will be.
Jets are 4-2 after 6 games and were competitive in each. Obviously beating NE in their house would have been fantastic. But I am pretty happy with where the Jets are going into week 7.
The Jets could see Walter Powell this Sunday. Oakland signed him off the Bills' practice squad on October 16th. Cumberland is pretty worthless. However on that endzone play Patrick Chung made contact with Cumberland's right forearm and PI could've and should've been called (Dan Fout's "great play!" Patriot ball-washing aside). Edelman and punting: our great cap expert/no talent evaluator GM Mike Tannenbaum's 2009 draft consisted of three--THREE--picks. Julien Edelman? A 2009 7th round pick. Punters? Kevin Huber (Cincinatti), Thomas Morstead (New Orleans), Pat McAfee (Indy), all of whom were low round picks in the 2009 draft and all of whom have gone to the Pro Bowl. And agreed, we're actually a viable wildcard candidate barring the injury bug, someting we'd all have signed up for when training camp opened.
I like Bowles' attitude. The real test as everyone knows is what happens during the rest of the season and whether it not he learns from his and the team's mistakes. If the Jets go on a tear from here on out great. It will show that there is real improvement. However, loosing close ones to the Pats (although nothing really to be ashamed of) isn't anything new. Therefore, this past game (IMHO) doesn't constitute turning the corner. That will come over the next few games.
