The D has been suspect against the pass all year long. There's a couple of games they allowed a LOT of yards. They're listed very near the bottom in Passing D. 31st? 30th? It's not good.
I remember watching that play and being amazed at how there were 4 Jets basically in a circle around him watching him catch the ball. Somebody was asleep on that one!!
Most of that is from 4 games. SD: where the O truned it over all night Ari: in garbage time NE: Denver
Thats what I've been saying too, but I wish that the pass rush would be more aggressive. 35 sacks mean that someone has to be good at attacking the QB. This 3-8 defense can't continue, its the problem with this team. They suck when they are passive, and a true contender when the step on someone's throat.
Out of the teams we've played, those are the teams that can pass. Miami exploited our secondary with relative ease. Fitzpatrick, if I remember correctly had a good game against us as well. Our pass D is not good.

Miami didn't exploit our secondary at all. Chad had some success in the 2nd half hitting the TE and backs out of the backfield which has been our problem all year not the secondary. Their WRs had 6 recs for 62 yds while their backs and TEs had 20 recs for 189 yds. -@ Miami: WRs 6 recs 62 yds. RBs/TEs 20 recs 189 yds 2 TDs -NE: WRs 9 recs 94 yds. I find this thread pretty funny. Listen up. Our pass defense SUCKS. It is 30th in the league. It has SUCKED all year. We don't get to #30 by having one bad game. Why the f*ck do you thhink Dhanahan was smirking everytime the camers showed him on the sideline? He knew he had "midget mind" right where he wanted him.
The Tennessee game would have been much worse too without all of those dropped passes. Our pass defense stinks. It's the biggest problem with the team. Anyone who honestly thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. ANy team that doesnt come out and spread us out with 4/5 wide in the shotgun is stupid. We simply cant stop teams from throwing at will on us.
Never mind actually paying attention to facts. Lets just assert our beliefs as 'truths'. How about addressing the evidence? Surely there could be something to find there instead of making crap up.
Yes I get it, but the fact that our "pass defense" blows stands. The run D is very solid as evidenced all year, so yeah....our pass D sucks unless you can find some other mysterious ways that they can get the ball down the field so easily.
3,4,5 wide have been the weakness of this defense all year. any team that is capable of running it will be running it a lot for the remainder of the year. this wasn't just exposed by the broncos. the cardinals figured it out and then the chiefs did it effectively and so have the pats and the broncos. im sure every team we play for the rest of the year will be aware that the defense struggles against those sets.
Teams can't run on us so obviously the pass #s will be inflated a bit but it's been the TEs and RBs that have killed us in the pass game.
Man teams have walked down the field in the passing game all year for at least a quarter or two if not longer. You can show stats all day but they don't tell the whole story. When teams want to move the ball on the Jets they do it through the air...whether it be the secondary or LBs or whatever. The fact is it has worked. We've out scored a number of teams which allowed us to squeak by. We have one of the top 5 running D's, so they have accumulated yardage somehow, no? Nobody remembers "we just squeaked by" ..."Fitzpatrick looks like Steve Young" .."Holy crap Cassell can throw!!"
Our secondary gets the blame but we it's been the LBs in coverage that have killed us and at times we struggle to rush the passer. I'd take our secondary over the Giants but they have a better pass rush to make that secondary look alot better than it actually is.
The interesting thing about that list is that with the more passing yards being allowed, there were less sacks and hurries by the pass rush. The Jets have had 4 or 5 sacks in the last 4 games. That is not getting the job done. This sunday the front 7 needs to attack again.
The Defense, although they did not play a good game, did come up with a big turnover (Lowery's pick in the endzone). Our offense drove down the field and could only get 3 after a 1st and goal. Our offense also turned the ball over on downs twice in Denver's territory. And our offense did give up a TD. Both sides of the ball played badly, but you can't place blame soley on the Defense.
