I understand what you're saying but unfortunately when you're dealing with signing a player to million $ contracts that kind of takes it to a different level. Teams also don't want to deal with bad publicity and things of that nature. It's like Goodell always says, you have to protect the shield.
I work with a mentally ill person, and it is hell. PC culture won't do anything about the outbursts and behavior while my coworkers and I have to put up with it as another stressor everyday. We love it when she takes vacation because essentially it is our vacation.
“I didn’t sleep last night because I feel like I let my family and the people who believe in me down, and I’m sorry for that. But I’m going to use this as fuel. The franchise that drafts me won’t have to worry about me off the field, but the teams that didn’t select me will have to worry about me on the field.” -Randy Gregory
Difference is he is a legitimate top 5 prospect on the field with the talent to realize those promises. Amaro's mouth is bigger than his talent IMO.
They were saying he was acting strange during the interviewing process which is stressful esp for young guys. He showed up late or didn't even show up at some interviews. Actually Gregory is at the draft and even though not selected until just a few minutes ago he is cool. Not with his head down and despondent like Geno was two years ago.
The biggest red flag on Gregory is reports that his agent had contacted teams and said a condition of drafting him was to have a support system and assign someone to 'shadow' him basically 24/7 to monitor him and help keep him in line (or something like that) . If true it does account for his fall and reports that a number of teams just plain took him off their boards.
I think Gregory getting drafted to Dallas was quite literally the worst place for him to go given the circumstances.
Saw a tweet yesterday that was so true; paraphrasing: "Randy Gregory gets drafted by a team whose GM doesn't need to worry about getting fired".
