I guess these are the types of threads we must deal with in the off-season A few posters have made the appropriate connection to the Mets losing to the Yankees. The 2000 Mets, a gutty gritty bunch, get no recognition for their accomplishment. From my standpoint, the loss to the Yankees diminished the Mets NL pennant And that's the way it would be if the Jets lost the SB to the Giants If its going to take 43 years to get to the Super Bowl, dear God, please don't let them lose to the Giants And as for the trolls who keep trying to perpetuate the myth that the Jets' fans are somehow satisfied with the two AFCCG losses, please come off it! Going to back to back championship games, beating the teams they beat to get there is a positive thing. BUT NO ONE THINKS ITS A SATISFACTORY ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT ALLOWS THE JETS TO REST ON THEIR LAURELS!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of AFC teams (Browns, Jags, Texans) would consider back to back championship game appearances the golden age of the team. Teams like the Houston Oilers, Dolphins, Bengals, Chargers and Bills only have that type of success to point at in the past 30 years.
This post is exactly why I wanted the Pats to lose. Ya, having the Giants win is a pain, but a momentary pain that will last a few weeks tops. Hell, most sports shows have already moved on. But the joy of the Pats losing once again will stay fresh for at least a year, maybe more years. Plus the Giants won't make the playoffs for the next 3 years so there's even more happiness ahead!!! Someone please order a bunch of green light bulbs for the Empire State Building...we'll be needing them sooooon!!!!
I was on the winning end of Yankees Mets in 2000 WS and trust me, Mets fans despised everything. Think about no matter where you turn you are reminded of the loss and somebody in your near proximity or circle of friends is celebrating. There is no escaping it and if you gave me an opportunity the Jets could go 8-8 and miss the playoff or they could make the Super Bowl and lose to the Giants, I would take missing. Again, I am not taking a chance at a Super Bowl over 8-8, I am taking a guaranteed loss to the Giants or a guaranteed 8-8.
