It was ridiculous and uncalled for. I think that some heavy penalty is in order for sure.

...but firing is pretty severe. I guess I just would hate to see an otherwise well liked and respected employee jobless for one moment of idiocy.

Sounds like Rex and the Jets were trying to cover for the guy a little bit at first, so that tells me he is well liked.

Maybe, I'm thinking like this because I see so many folks out of work around me....

Actually, I think its totally justified. Good teams have discipline. If you fire the guy, it sends a message that this behavior is unacceptable in the organization.

Why was Carroll running downfield out of bounds again for 10 yards after already being flagged for it before?

The rule states that you need to make an immediate effort to get back in bounds. The player was called for it already and was trying to do it again. Instead of getting flagged he got tripped. Admittedly poor sportsmanship on the Jets coach, but had the player not tried to cheat again he wouldn't have been in that position anyway.

So would you want your boss to make an example out of you ... send a message to other employees when you make your next mistake? I have to agree with CJLang on this one.

Of course you are right too . If the guy is fired it is totally justifiable.

This is endemic of the undisciplined atmosphere this coach has established with his big mouth and assinine antics. He'd better get serious and get to coaching and getting this team in order before this season is gone for good.

I didn't say it wasn't justifiable. I think they have every right to fire him.

I just don't like to see a guy fired for having too much passion for his team and doing something really stupid in the moment. I don't believe it was premeditated.

What if Alosi's action resulted in a severe injury? Would it change anyone's mind about how he should be disciplined?

Fire this piece of shit today.

Carrol needs to watch where he is going. Try playing within the rules and you won't be out of bounds in a position to be tripped. If Carrol hits a person on the sidelines who is not wearing pads he could seriously hurt that person. Run in between the lines and this will never happen. Why all the hate?

So in other words, if somebody runs a red light, it is ok to run them off the road afterwards?

If the Phins had an assistant do it to one of our players, this board would have been in meltdown.
He definitely needs his breaches taking down and getting a severe thrashing with some birch twigs, or fired.

    And...Where was the flag?

In order to even get tripped, he was beyond the white stripe fcol...

Personally, I think the officials should be fined as well for allowing it to happen.

its disgraceful. while i understand the sentiment of firing is a bit harsh, if the roles were reversed, would you want the opposing teams SOB fired?

dude made a mistake that is an embarrassment. he needs to be let go.

Why not? I bet you are the same person who coined the term Cheatriots and bitches about spygate everytime we play the patriots. What Alosi did does not even compare yet its still embarrassing and adds salt to the wounds of the loss. Embarassing. Fire his ass.

Its the NFL, people get fired for a lot less. We should have higher standards and a sense of discipline on the team. Right now it seems like there is zero discipline. Yes, I do believe that Alosi should be fired. Send a message to the team. Send a message to the league that the Jets are better than that.

What does any of that have to do with caring? I don't really care either. I think the guy should get punished and whatever he gets is fair but I really just can't bring myself to care all that much about this situation. The guy tripped him. Fucked up? Absolutely. But I'm not up in arms and disgusted by what happened.
