Another player I think might have some surprise impact this week.-------Woodhead. How many of you guys weren?t stunned to see him come out on the field in the last minute, from the Jets end zone, with the shut out on the line. Everyone knows Rex really wanted that shutout. There was a reason they brought Woodhead out instead of Jones, or Greene who had just run for 316 yards. IMO they wanted to see what Woodhead could do under pressure. Not with the game on the line, but the shutout. He did very well. I wouldn?t be at all surprised to see him get a few chances to catch the ball either out of the back field, or out of the slot in key situations. Just a hunch
Actually, Buffalo threw a ton of 8 and 9 man fronts in the first and second halves of the game last week and we still were able to gain significant yardage on the ground. I'm still trying to puzzle out why the running wasn't more consistent, but I think part of it is a drop off of effective blocking by Tony Richardson. Every significant ground gain we had was when TRich was on the sideline, yet the defense was still reading run. In the Buffalo game, our running was most effective in a single-back set with Turner on one end and Hartsock on the other.
Yeah they were up 38-0 with an important divisional game coming up. There was 1:30 left and the Raiders had zero timeouts. Why get an important player injured? I do not know how you can interpret anything about Woodhead in that situation???????????????????????????????
Exactly, I don't understand how someone could think a 38 point lead with 1:30 left in the game with a fresh set of downs is pressure. He was out there because our RBs were tired from running their asses off all day long and no reason to risk injury to them
Leon's injury was a tragedy, but aside from that factor, you have to feel pretty damn good about what our running game is doing right now. Jones has really changed my impression of him as of late. He suddenly seems to be running with some fire and making some excellent cutbacks. There were a couple of plays against the Raiders where he seemed to take an extra step or two in the backfield and get caught, but overall he seems to be upping his game significantly. I think Greene answered any questions there were about whether he's ready to step in and help TJ shoulder the load. Yes, it was the Raiders, but the kid looked awesome and I don't think you can take away a game like that from him just because of who we were playing. I don't think that we can suddenly expect 100-yard games from him every week based on one performance, but I'm definitely excited to see him busting into the Fins backfield on Sunday. If Woodhead happens to defy the odds and earn a spot, awesome, but if not I suppose we'll be shopping for another RB in the offseason or draft. Either way, if TJ and Shonn can stay healthy (fingers crossed) we have ourselves a helluva pair of RBs.
hahahaha we do play them again. and i can't see them stopping the run this time. it has been plenty of lessons learned for everyone on this team, and it made them smarter. but the losses due to injury has not made this team better. that's the downside
ronnie brown has been a work horse this season.if miami keeps on using him like they are.he is due to wear himself out.like he has previous seasons.the running backs behind him are so so.
they use split backs. ricky williams has been more than so so. i like the fact that when you type williams' name you get the sign.
