I guess we disagree on the Browns motivation--they did not make Hooper the highest paid TE at the time of signing for blocking. 4 yrs/42 million. They knew Njoku was not the answer.

of course not just to block. he's a complete TE who can also catch. very similar to schultz. njoku isn't as good of a blocker and they signed hooper to replace him knowing they would move on from njoku. with that said we have crap at TE so njoku is an upgrade for us if need be bu i'd much rather get schultz and grab a guy like wydermeyer in the draft

I hear you bro but Njoku is as much of an upgrade as Chris Herndon. In other words, you're better off without him although he may flash at times. End of beating a dead horse. Rock on!

I agree that he needs to hit some real HRs in FA this year. I think he will be more aggressive and willing to spend more money this year. If Lawson can come back healthy, I think he will prove to be a HR as well. Hopefully, Davis has a much better 2nd year with the team, stops dropping passes, and proves to have been a great signing as well.

The only thing I disagree with is the bold. I just don't think one should make a blanket statement like that. I hope it will be very competitive, and I truly believe that it will be, but injuries could derails us, or there could be some other factors beyond his control that keeps us from having a great record even though we are competitive for the first half of the season. With all the draft picks we have, we will have a lot of young players starting again, and even with a nice chunk of cap space and a lot of draft picks, JD is still not going to be able to fill all the rest of our holes this offseason.

i'd muhc rather have schultz personally but either way njoku is an upgrade for us. our TEs are awful even if njoku isn't great

There might be only 1 Jet fan in the world that doesn't want Schultz...

Cameron Brate may be an interesting target--he's cap-charge is 7-8 million per year the next 2 years. If Brady and Gronk stay next year, Tampa would probably like to move him. Maybe something can be worked out.

You dorks are acting like little girls gossiping with each other. Call him out face-to-face if you think you have a better argument. Sorry if this is not tactful enough--just tired of the childish stuff prevalent in mass media and how its affecting grown men.

I’ve liked Brate for a while now and think he’d be a good fit here, been stuck behind Gronk and then whatever they are doing with OJ over there. Him or Schultz my top two, with Njoku 3rd.

My targets would be Brandon Scherff, Marcus Williams, Jessie Bates III, Haason Reddick, Harold Landry, David Njoku, and Will Fuller,

I would be shocked if Gronk stays another year.

I know this is not a popular opinion, but I think Corey Davis should not be written off yet. I thought he played well in preseason and early in the year. We got a huge financial investment in him anyway. I could be happy with Davis and Moore at WR next year and Berrios in the slot. Yes, I think we should draft at least one receiver, but Davis could bounce back next year. Of course I would change my opinion on this if Berrios leaves, then we would need to move Moore to slot and sign or draft a good receiver. I would not resign Crowder. Oh, and a decent TE would help too.

And, I hope Douglas approaches free agency and the draft with the mindset that he CAN fill all our holes. If he starts out thinking he can't, then he won't. Let's think positive, guys.

As long as the Jets are looking to flesh out the roster with younger live bodies in free agency the process won't be as destructive as it has been recently.

If they start really spending and bringing in top tier talent, well those guys better be real leaders and they better be here for more than just the money.

Actually, scratch that last part. I don't think the Jets can help themselves at all in top tier free agency. All they'll wind up doing is scrambling any chance of building a team and then scrambling hopelessly to try to fix the damage when the injuries start to pile up.

The Jets have already tried the "sign a great leader" idea and C.J. Mosley, who is a great leader proved that you can fuck that one up easily.

Build the damn team and the wins will come. Build it out of Jets though, not the mercs looking to cash in on Woody's money. Those guys are not worth the price.

I'm not writing Davis off. I'd love to draft Burks who would be our #1 WR, Davis moves to #2, and Moore goes into the slot. Berrios is STs and depth at slot.

IMO it's impossible to fill all our holes this offseason, so JD should not approach FA with that mindset, as he wouldn't be dealing with reality. The only way he could fill all our holes is to trade down from both #1 picks, add a bonanza of picks this year and not miss on any of them.

Regarding your last sentence, if there's a will, there's a way. :D Now that is what I like to hear.
