Yeah but apparently Lynch and Kyle Shannahan busted a nut on NFL Network watching him. Easy top 5 pick. I see the Jets getting him, Bosa, or Allen. I will be happy with one of them
It all depends on Murray. If AZ really does want him that will leave the Jets at #3 with the following scenarios : One of the other QB needy teams panics and trades up with SF to take Haskins. Now the Jets have their choice of Allen, Bosa, or DK but little chance of trading down . One of the other QB needy teams calls the Jets when they deem the 49ers price to trade up too steep . Now the Jets are in the drivers seat . The 49ers will select Bosa and the Jets can get a slew of picks for moving down 3 or 4 spots. The Raiders can still make a move of course but still....At this point pass rushers not named Allen are still on the board plus you have to figure OTs are now in the picture as well....plus DK has a good chance of still being around .
Was watching the live stream but seems as though NFLN hasnt changed since last Feb when i last tuned in..Patriot hype shoved down the viewers throat as much as possible When im watching movement skills of of LBs in March i dont need to hear repeatedly how many tainted rings the patriots have or when Brady might retire.. End of rant
Not one.But they were sure to mention Bellicheat handing them a check for St. jude..great for the kids by the way.. Nonetheless the Patriot hype is strong for an event that should contain no bias for any team.Everyone is 0-0
Montez Sweat ran a crazy 4.41 at 6-6 260 lbs. 7 seconds in the cone drill. Is he the 2nd edge guy off the board? Before Ferrell?
I like him better than Ferrell..but they are very similar value wise.Im not sure either fits a 3-4. Bosa Allen Burns Sweat Ferrell Pollite Ferguson Is how id rank them. Bosa,Allen,Burns & Polite are likely the potential fits in a 34
His tape does not justify him going higher than late first early second, don't get too caught up in the underwear Olympics, the medicals and interviews are the biggest part of the event.
I'm not trying to justify him and yeah I hate using the combine to rank players. Was just commenting on his timed speed--the guys on the combine this am were pretty surprised by his time.
I don't see where Bosa fits in the 3-4. You have him as a potential OLB? I'm sure he'd be ok there as a pass rusher, but he is undoubtedly much better with his hand in the dirt and has shown less than nothing in coverage.
Yeah hes much better w hand in dirt & wouldnt be great in coverage but hed still be able to rush standing up as well as set the edge. Theres at least some transferrable skills.
Bosa can play in any scheme. That's why we call them EDGE rushers nowadays and that's why the base defenses, aren't as important. Some teams use one edge rusher in a traditional 4-3 defensive end way and play with their hands in the dirt as a rusher every play. The other linebacker plays the run or covers. Other times they will have him stand up and rush the pass-rusher. Not every, outside linebacker in a 3-4 is asked to cover. Watch Chandler Jones, they line him up everywhere.
Although I agree that base defense is not as important as it once was, you don't draft a guy like Bosa to play 50-70% of your snaps. He's an every down player and would be best utilized in a base 4-3 scheme. Chandler Jones is a fantastic pass rusher and put in a ton of work to be able to transition to the 3-4. However, he's pretty much just a pass rusher. He's alright against the run and is still pretty bad if asked to cover. There are more examples of bad transitions than good...hence why the Jets plan to stick with the 3-4 base to begin with.
The Jets will run more nickel then anything else just like the majority of other teams ... In such cases, you can use Bosa to set the edge and you can even play him 5T (who lines outside the shoulder of the tackle). He has strength. Bosa fitting with the Jets isn't a huge deal at all. NFL today is about putting your best players out on the field.
