LOL! Yeah, the old Foxboro Stadium used to make Jet games look like Polo matches by comparison. They have really cleaned things up over the years and have taken season tickets away from anyone who has gotten out of line.

You guys are all attrocious! All this poster wants is some straight advice on his first game and all you want to do is bust his balls.

Season ticketholder and attendee for a long time... here's what you'll need to know:

Get there about 2 1/2 hours before the game. This enables you to find adequate parking near your gate but more importantly, NEAR AN EXIT POINT near that gate so that you're not caught up wasting an hour even getting out of the freakin' parking lot. If in doubt, try parking near Gate C, but on the outer edge near the access road. When the game is over, you'll thank God you were able to get in your car and get the hell out onto the TNPK.

No booze, no bottles, you can't bring much of anything into the stadium anymore, especially if it's closed. You can bring a bottle of water, as long as it's open and the cap is off. So, what you do is, you twist off the cap before you get to the gate, and put it in your pocket. Once you're inside the gate, screw the cap back onto your water bottles. Sandwiches can be brought in, but the same deal applies... no closed containers. Not even a "carry on" bag to hold all this stuff.

As far as weather gear... pay close attention to the weather forecast the night before, particularly the wind and "wind chill" forecasts. See if your seats are in the sun or the shade. The stadium can be warm enough on a 30-degree day with minimal layering if all is going for you... sunny side, no wind, early game etc. That all turns around if you're on the shady side with damp, 30-mile-an-hour wind and a 4 O'Clock game with the temps dropping.

Bottom line: LAYERS. Bring extra stuff with you that you can build layers on and test the layers in the parking lot before the game. You'll know what to wear based on what's going on in the parking lot. I start with a t-shirt, long sleeved T on top of that. Then I drive to the stadium in that. When I step out of the Tahoe, I start to layer based on what's going on. Maybe a sweatshirt on top of that layer... might need a heavier, hooded sweat on top of that... might need a Carrhart heavy jacket over that... might need a wool hat... might need a scarf if it's really bad.

At no time have I ever needed a face mask. I mean, you're not assaulting Killamanjaro with mountain climbers. You'll be seated in a seat surrounded by other fans. If you're really cold, bring an old blanket and throw it over you. Wear a wool cap and cover it with a hood, probably the best invention ever created for keeping cold wind off your neck. Hooded gear goes a long way to keeping your head warm while not impairing your vision.

Most of all, HAVE FUN, DUDE!

I looked thru his posts. They were definitely...simple, but harmless. None of them were offensive.

Maybe he was trying to get his post count up so he could start this thread?

    Exactly.

Bumping old threads that are done being discussed and not even bothering to add anything intelligent is annoying. It's not called post-whoring because everyone loves a whore.

I've been saying all along he'd have nothing in terms of constructive conversation to offer when he finally got his chance to start a thread, and he didn't.

It's not like he couldn't have simply bumped an old thread asking about stadium experiences, since he was bumping old threads anyway. Instead he raced to boost his post count so he could ask a question that's been asked many times before. Even worse, for those of us who frequent other forums on this board, he abused other forums to get there. Had he done the same thing exclusively in this forum, I'm sure there would have been far less questioning on why some of us were against him.

NP, I hadnt followed his posts until I saw this thread. You apparently were on to him from the getgo.

I recall when I wanted to start a thread to post a TC report I got a message that I needed 50 posts or whatever the number is in order to start a thread, so i posted some quickies until I had enough to start a thread.

I always try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, particularly if I haven't personally read troublesome posts by them. And I don't have the time to carefully peruse all the other boards around here either, which apparently you do, nor do I find it a particularly useful pastime to focus intense interest on who gets banned around here and for what reasons, so for all of that, I apologize.

But did it ever occur to you that some other new person reading the board might have seen his original question and might have been interested in an intelligent, non-confrontational, unsarcastic response from someone who goes to the games all the time?

It's obvious by the percentage of band width in my above response devoted to answering his question that the purpose of my post was not to impugn or castigate those who are beating up on this guy. The purpose of my answer was to inform him and anyone else wanting to know the answer to his questions.

Dude...the entire first page is filled with the guy's posts...still. It doesn't take Holmes' genius nor Matlock's tenacity to look to your right on the main board and see that the guy has a one or two word answer for every thread. Grow up.

No need for a personal attack on me over something as stupid as your point on this poster. The fact that I missed his trolling doesn't have anything to do with maturity, but it does speak volumes about your lack thereof for taking it to that level.

My advice for your first Jets game is simple:

    Pills, booze and heroin.

That's the difference man. You were trying to get to the point where you could post useful information. I'm willing to bet your original quickies at least mattered to the conversation at hand when you were writing them.

I don't recall ever not liking your posts, so I highly doubt you were posting in the same manner as this guy.

And yes, R.I.P. Sean Taylor, what a mess. A true shame.
    -----------

227, I understand your point. It's different for you because you don't frequent the other forums, especially the baseball one, where the guy was bumping threads that had no significance any longer, simply to get his post count up.

Quite frankly, the guy could have spent more time using the search function built into the board to find the conversations he was trying to create, and less time spamming the board, and then no one would have a problem with him, and he probably wouldn't be banned right now.

In that order. Followed by a trip to the stripclub afterward to make it rain.

GM is a good mod, so if he bant his ass, i'm sure it was for good cause.

Afterwards who can forget the hookers and blow. The Jets have a way of doing that to you. It is kind of like growing up a Rangers fan in the late 78-90......... yuck.

My nightmare would be an article that Carol Vadnais was signed to the Jets practice squad.
