Thank you. I've been arguing this fact with people for months. We would have gotten a lower 1st round pick and maybe a 2nd or 3rd - everything else would have been in the future and would not have magically turned this team into something that could support a QB. AND....the same people who complain about this also whine about the Jets inability to draft. So WTF good would more draft picks do anyway???
Exactly! Many posters/fans are just flat out ignorant. They don't know the facts, but are full of opinions, and their attempts at reasoning and logic are epic failures.
If we stayed in the top 10 we would have gotten a solid starter with pro bowl upside for that one player. Whatever we got for trading down could easily have gotten us at least two more players that could start for us. Its not like the bar is set so high.
Please elaborate on the facts that we are ignorant of. Are you implying that we would have been unable to reach our current record without Zach Wilson?
This team would not have been any better this season if traded the 2nd pick. In fact it would put us in a bigger hole because we would have pay to Sam or cut him (He was not going to play any better with the Jets this season) then we would still be chasing a QB and have to use the assets we gained to move back up to try and draft a QB (non are looking that good so far). If we end up with another 1st or 2nd pick we can always trade that for the "Haul"..... Either way Sam was gone so argument makes no sense. If you are going to argue that Sam would have magically played better behind this o-line and better enough that we would sign him to a big contract you are delusional.
You literally don't know this to be true, you can't, It didn't happen. You know what Is true though? We are the worst team In the NFL with Wilson. We are having historic lows on offense. This offense Is some how, some way, worse that the Gase offense of last year. Sam had not done anything up until that point, this money talk from you Is non-sense. There is ZERO chance he would've garnered a mega contract from us based on the play from the position These are just more excuses to try and justify the decisions made. Either way, It no longer matters because It's In the past now. Only thing that matters Is what lies ahead... That shit doesn't look good. Right now. It's time to buckle up and embrace the shit or get off the boat. What else do we got as fans right now? It's awful right now. That's a fact. With no hope or light In sight.
Come on, They are the youngest team in the league. Your logic makes no sense. Look at the Qbs second contracts you either sign him to big money or you cut him. This is always about being right. Yelling that the sky is falling after week 3 and everybody should be fired yet again. Yeah, we have not done that before. This coming from the person that was pushing for Justin Fields. I think Justin will be good but it will just take time, based on your standards he is already a bust.
FFS, you have a far bigger hard on for Justin Fields at this point. I NEVER talk about the kid on this board since the draft unless someone like you wants to try and deflect by bringing him up with me. It's dumb. They are the youngest team In the league, more talent would not have hurt that process by trading away the 2nd pick and keeping Sam. We would have In theory BETTER talent on this roster, despite the age average of the team. There are obviously QB's In the league that didn't play very well In their first contract, got a mediocre contract (by QB standards) for their second contract. Either way, we still had another year, plus the franchise tag If need be. It's just a moot point honestly. The sky has been falling since 2010. I guess you haven't bothered to look up.
It isn't about the bold. We weren't aspiring to that record. It's about the future. Sam would have played no better with the same OL, dropped passes, lousy play calling, and poor coaching. He is looking a lot better because he got a fresh start somewhere else, Carolina's OL is playing better than ours, and he got really solid coaching from Brady and maybe Rhule. That's what many fans are ignorant of and delusional about. There's lots of facts that some fans are ignorant of. cval mentioned some, like most of the draft picks we would have received for trading down would have been in the future, and so wouldn't have helped Sam or the team this year. With Sam most likely not playing any better here than he was, there's no way we would have given him a 2nd contract, so he would have walked in FA and instead of getting a 2nd and 4th round draft pick for him, at best, we would have gotten a late 3rd, and more than likely after yet another bad season, his contract with a new team wouldn't have been that big, so we would have only gotten a late 4th or maybe even a late 5th for him. Thus, we wouldn't have those picks in the upcoming draft and wouldn't; have a QB. On about any topic, there are posters here, on Twitter, or elsewhere on the internet who are foaming at the mouth about something and they are ignorant of the facts and details. I've just about sworn off reading anything Jets-related on Twitter. Listen I get that sometimes people say crap out of frustration. I do that as well. Most of us do, some just have a later breaking point than others. I'm not talking about that, although some of that is over the top. I also understand the cynicism and impatience to a degree. Even though I'm still excited about the future of the Jets with Wilson, Saleh and other players, I'm fed up with the losing, sloppy play, and horrible job that LaFleur is doing. I'm less optimistic than I was even a week ago. I knew there would be ups and downs and struggles this year, but nowhere near the extent of what we've seen so far. I think Wilson and our offense would have been playing a lot better if Brian Daboll was our HC. Now, between the horrible job that LaFleur is doing, the WRs dropping the ball and Mims getting no playing time, and the pounding that Wilson is taking because of our crappy OL play, I fear for Zach and the future of this franchise.
It has been a shit show with this coaching staff. You can’t blame the rookie, it is their job to make things easier. Unfortunately they have not answered the call.
How many years left on JDs contract? 3 I believe...He has to right the ship asap or his time is up ever Managing again My only solace is that the Browns had no problem firing Freddy Kitchens and getting K Stefanski Now look where they are
