every-time I read every one of championjets69's posts you just have to think he's trolling.

10-6 for me. Defense will perform by being a top 3 defense. Crucial win against the 49ers raise will be a big win for the team. Split with the Patriots and Buffalo and finally sweep the Fins. We'll either lose to Tennessee or San Diego. Offense will start slow, but will pick it up as the season goes on I think. We limit our turnovers and that's why we get 10 wins

Schedule gets easy after first few weeks.

Defense looked sharp. I expect at least 10 wins. This team will make a lot of haters cry.

5-11 or 6-10. Yup I'm a realist. I dont see them beating the 49ers or the Pats. Split with Buffalo and dont be surprised if they lose to the Fins in Miami.

I'm thinking along lines of the Ravens model with regards to this version of the Jets. Solid D, pedestrian Offense and a lot of low scoring games. How many minutes per game the D plays will determine how far this team goes. The offense this year is pretty much a basket case that will depend heavily on the defense keeping the score low. I can definetly see a NE sweep but so far, they don't look like the juggernauts they used to be either. Perhaps Belichek is saving his offense for the regular season too. :breakdance:

FWIW, I think the Jets D will hold them in good stead, win a couple of games and the O and Sanchez will do enough and not lose games.

    I predict 10-11 wins.

I owe you an apology. I was seriously drunk and angry about something else when I posted that. Forgot about it until I read it this morning.

    Sorry Buddy.

How is 9-7 a run? I do actually think Jets are going to go 9-7 but that won't mean playoffs.

Looking for Tannenbaum to get fired

The Ravens have Ray Rice. They have a few solid receivers in Boldin, Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. They have 2 TE's that can catch the ball in Dickson and Pitta.
In other words, they have a good selection of skill players on offense.

The numbers were close last year but the Ravens were integrating people like Boldin and Smith into the offense. I expect them to score more this year and I expect the Jets to score less.

I'm thinking the Ravens are going to be good for about 400 points and the Jets for 300 or so. The difference is going to be in the skill players on offense.

Pretty tough to call yourself a realist when making a prediction. Just saying.

When someone calls themself a realist what they're actually saying is they have a generally negative outlook on life and they believe anyone who doesn't see things the way they do is of inferior intelligence.

We have a 12-4 defense and a 4-12 offense. That should = 8-8 but really it depends on our schedule.

If we end up playing a lot of games against lower ranked defenses then we could be 10-6 or better. If we play a lot of decent or good defenses then we could be 4-12.

I don't put any stock in the pre- season, but I'm not going to say it doesn't concern me how lackluster our offense has looked.
I think we go as far as our offensive line takes us.

I also believe that given the fact that we are committed to bucking the trend of a pass first league we should have upgraded the RB position.
If we plan on making any sort of run this season, our offensive line is going to be the deciding factor.

    SOJ?
    The jury's still out.

I don't like the title of the poll or anything about it haha.

SO if I look at the team thats assembled and value them at 8-8 or less that means I'm a SOJF? Or if I think they are better I am not a SOJF?

What If I'm not negative so much as I just see the roster as lacking enough that it will be hard to get more than 8 wins?

I just thought it odd that you could only pick 8-8 or 9-7 ... also 9-7 is somehow considered making a run?

Exactly. That's why I didn't select one. The choices don't make a lot of sense.

Why do people think being a pessimist makes them a realist?

I have seen many people on this board proudly call themselves 'realists' while they used their embrace of negativity and their reluctant ability to admit positivity as proof.

Realism in professional football, or objectivity as an intelligent man would call it, is the ability to separate yourself from the emotional state of fandom in order to see the truth of things.

Not many here can maintain that state of mind very long, or they wouldn't be fans.

10-6 or better if Sanchez can get protection on offense and the team, in general, can stay healthy. I am 100% on the Sanchez wagon, especially after watching his poise and accuracy this preseason. He had one terrible throw against the Giants, which was just bad throwing form habits creeping up, but I don't expect that to be the theme for him anymore.

And this D is going to be lights out once the regular season comes and Rex and Co. start game planning.

I honestly can't wait until this team shoves crow down the collective media's throat.

I was gonna vote for make a run but I didn't like the 9-7 after it. LOL

I think they can win the division and a make a serious run.
