Kroul is a lock to make the team. He can play NT and DE in a 3-4. If there was any doubt, he answered the bell against Philly. They likely already had their mind made up when the cut Wright. Kroul put an exclamation point on it.

Looking around this morning, I can't find any new news. Gonna be a long day, me thinks. Deadline for cuts is 6pm.

Cut Joe McKnight because he fumbles too much! If you want him to do returning jobs, let Taylor do it!

Lisa Zimmerman of SNY is reporting WRs Clowney (of course) and Foster (surprise) should have made the 53 man roster...

She also reported yesterday Jackson was headed to the PS but I'll believe it when I see it...

I think foster may have won a gunner job on ST. which means he is probably the new wallace wright. I don't have any proof of this fact, but its the only explanation for why he would make the final 53, that would put us at 6 wrs counting holmes

    Braylon
    Cotch
    Smith
    Clown
    Foster

    Holmes
    Coles/Houshmanzadeh

theoretically we are going to bring back coles after week 1, so we are either keeping 6 wrs this year or clowney/foster are gone. Since i dont think foster even had a pass thrown his way this preseason, he is here for his ST skills. Clowney on the other hand clearly has issues on teams. So my guess is clowney is cut after week 1 for coles, or cut if we somehow acquire Houshmanzadeh, since it appears we have interest if we offered a deal for him. Leaving us with 4 wrs once holmes returns, one ST guy in Foster, and a utility guy in Smith.

So, they keep Foster for one game and then bring Coles back for 3 weeks until Holmes returns. Jackson is PS eligible, while Washington is not. Might boil down to these two. The risk with Jackson is if they don't cut him and PS him now, and Revis comes back... he can't go to the PS, can he?

I think you can go to the PS whenever you want... as long as someone doesn't claim him on waivers...

Foster only joined the Jets like a week and a half ago... I agree with your logic though.

Until week 2 it'll be a fight between Clowney and Foster for a ST spot... and then one of the 2 gets cut in favor of Coles.

I'm pretty sure Washington is PS eligible. He hasn't accrued 9 games on an active roster, and he hasn't spent any time on our PS yet.

If he gets cut he will be picked up by someone within minutes.....Probably Denver lol they are struggling in their backfield.......And I believe he will play very well if given playing time.

Smith, Reamer, Tanner, Turkovich & Foster cut

Considering the next guy cut will surely be Gay we have our final 53!!!

Washington, Woodhead and Jackson make the team... congrats to them...

Consider that Woodhead can also play some WR and that 1 of those RB will be cut after WK 1 to make room for Coles (don't think Clowney gets axed).
And even if Coles takes Clowney's place one of the two RBs will be cut when Holmes comes back.

IMO we cut Washington for Coles and then it's a battle between Woodhead and Clowney for the final spot. If McKnight has progressed some Woodhead might be cut.

Also Cumberland is a TE/WR and certainly not a blocking TE.

thats true i expect washingotn to be dumped for LC, because somebody needs to play ST from the WR position. However, no matter what your feelings for woodhead, the coaching staff loves the heart and determination this kid has. I wouldnt be too shocked to see LC tossed once Holmes returns, but considering Jackson also made the team, we have 6 active dbs, and would have 7 if Revis ever returns. I wouldnt be shocked to see jackson moved to the PS when holmes returns if Revis ever shows up

    Revis (?)
    Cromartie
    Wilson
    Lowery
    Coleman
    Cole
    Jackson

I also expect that Cumberland will not be active at all this season unless Keller is hurt, and then Cumberland might take Kellers role in the offense.

I don't think we'll keep 6 WR at any point. I'm not even sure we'll have 5 before Holmes returns, but that depends on how Clowney does on ST. The one benefit to Washington being cut is that he's PS eligible still.

Considering Rex's love for DBs I'm sure we'll always have 6 CBs... I gave for granted that Jackson would be cut (moved to PS) when Revis comes back... however I have no idea what would happen if Revis DOESN'T come back.

In that scenario I'm assuming Jackson stays on the team all year long and Coles/Clowney/Woodhead battle it out for 2 roster spots.

Yeah you're right... Coles could probably be cut when Holmes comes back since he offers no ST value whatsoever...

Yeah, it makes little sense to carry six WRs, especially if Woodhead makes the team. Woodhead could play WR in a pinch if multiple WRs got injured in a game.

Or even just in late game situations. He did so last season a couple of times, although I only remember 3 targets. He dropped 1, 1 was off, and had 1 reception.
