Let's see where we end up. If it's a total disaster you have to send Tannenbaum and Mangini packing, because the entire offseason had disaster written all over it and nobody in the Jets management team apparently noticed.

Is it prepostorous to try Dewayne Robertson as a DE? A 310 lbs. guy in the 3-4 might work. Thoughts?

I say give 'em 4 years to be competitive, but you got to at least give 'em 3, especially with a QB change...not to mention a complete defensive scheme change.

If it's a disaster there's no reason to look at even one more season. Anybody capable of creating a disaster in the NFL is likely good mainly at that and will continue to do so until you take the keys away.

Four years is too long if they regress to a record of 3-13 or worse this season..

In my opinion, if the team, relatively healthy, regresses to a lower level than it was the year before Mangini came in, and the team was injured beyond all belief, regardless of how long he's been coach, he should be out

    regarding Mangini:

you can't fault him if there's not enough talent on the field. you can blame him for not getting enough talent, but if that's the case, then i'm willing to give him one more Offseason to acquire the talent. if he fails to do so again, then you go in another direction.

if anyone from the coaching staff goes, it should be Sutton. get the talent and another D-Coordinator, and then see what Mangini has. i'm just not ready to write him off after two seasons that essentially cancel each other out.

Everyone, release all the players, fire the coaches, change the team name and start over again. Repeat this process every two years until we win a superbowl.

I give Tanngini two drafts to get rid of Clarke/Clement/Robertson/Bowens/Barrett/Dearth and replace w/ better talent

Chad - He should get a shot somewhere else.
    McCareins - He's just useless.
Clement - good depth, but I'd like to imrpove his spot.
Hobson - He flashes from time to time, but this is a position that needs upgrading.
    Clarke - Upgrade needed badly.
Robertson - He just isn't that good. *EDIT* I wouldn't be opposed to starting him at DE next year. Not that I expect a lot, but if cutting him is too cost-prohibitive, then it could be worth a shot.

Those are the immediate needs. And I have to laugh at anyone saying Vilma. Getting rid of your teams best athlete doesn't ever improve the team. Vilma will be fine in the 3-4. There are FAR more important needs.
