When you draft a QB that high you expect him to be the guy to lead your team for a long time. Sanchez was not that guy. Yes he had a couple nice playoff runs, but if he was the QB I thought he was going to be we would have never signed Teebo, drafted Geno, or Hack or even Darnold. He was a failure as a franchise QB … So yes a bust.
A epic bust. The number of high draft pick QBs the Jets have selected after 2009 should make that clear.
Look at the other guy selected that year in the first round. Stafford is still around making $25 million per year. Sanchez can't even cut it as a emergency backup QB. He's absolutely a bust, but we had a heavy hand in making him one. We gave him everything he could have needed to start then slowly started removing pieces. One of the most embarrassing front office jobs I've ever seen. Add on that we couldn't put a single functioning offensive mind on our coaching staff and it was a recipe for disaster. He had talent, and with a good staff he'd still be in the league at the very least as a vet fighting for a starting job in camp.
