one would really think that the rules change once a guy gets his hands on the ball and blocks the kick. my understanding is that if the ball had gone backwards and the same thing happened that KC would've gotten the ball wherever the SD player recovered it?
yup he took a time out to get a further explanation. Obviously the idea of one of his players touching the ball passed the line of scrimmage was very confusing.
it should be confusing to anyone that gives 2 thoughts to it. that ruling is the equivalent of saying if a thrown pass is batted back past the LOS it's a fumble and if it's past the LOS it's an incomplete pass.
Yeah, that's an interesting point. I don't see why, when a punt is blocked, the line of scrimmage should have any role in the play. It just doesn't make sense why it would've been KC ball, if all that happened behind the LOS, and not get the ball if it happened past the LOS.
It wasn't a fumble. Once the ball went past the line of scrimmage without a Charger touching it, it became just another punt. When the Chief player touched it, it was a live ball, the same way it is if any player on the receiving team of a punt touches the ball. It's not a bad rule, either - it's the only possible way to rule on a play like that. Otherwise, every time a defensive player got a fingertip on a ball, it would change all of the rules regarding how the receiving team must field the ball. This way is very consistent - if you're on the receiving team of a punt, you NEVER touch the ball unless you're the guy actually fielding it, once it passes the line of scrimmage.
Thank you to The Bus for picking the J-E-T-S for the WC at halftime. Not that it really matters, but it was nice.
Well, if we run the table then I feel that all the pieces will fall in place. But that's what is essential here - beat the hell out of Miami
Yep, Same Ole Herm Actually, Herm is worse in December now than he ever has been. Before this season, with the Jets, he was 12-14 in regular season December/January games. This season he is 0-3 so far.
