You are right. I was doing some good-natured kidding, as shown in my breakdancing smiley. Also see the quote in my post.
Name: Todd Watkins Position: WR School: BYU Height: 6'2" Weight: 202 lbs Speed: 4.40 Scouting Reports: Coming into the season, some considered Todd the best WR prospect in the country. That has cooled a bit after a somehwat disappointing 2005 season. His receiving yards were cutdown by almost 400 yards. He has good size and tremendous big play ability. Todd was a 1st team All-conference in 2004 and was named the nation's "Top Deep Threat" by Sports Illustrated. His big play ability has been shown throughout his career, as he's had TD receptions of 67, 68, 68, 70, and 78 yards. Todd has good breakaway speed but he also runs tremendous routes and is always there waiting for the ball. In BYU's bowl game against California, he made a spectacular leaping touchdown catch where the defender had good position on him. His 4.40 40 time at the combine certainly turned some heads as he was previously thought of solely as a possession receiver. This incredibly athletic and big play wide receiver looks to be a good option in the 2nd or 3rd round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Name: Jeff Webb Position: WR School: San Diego State Height: 6'2" Weight: 211 lbs Speed: 4.44 Scouting Reports: Jeff was a fantastic player for the Aztecs this year. He led their team in receptions and yards, and touchdouwns this season. He runs great routes and he incredibly quick, blowing by many DB's that cover him. At 6-2, his size isn't fantastic, but it is enough to not be considered short. He has tremendous hands, reeling in several one handed grabs in his career including his one handed catch against Michigan in 2004. That catch is considered to be one of the best catches all year in all of college football in that year. He is very consisteny and like his hands are like webs(referring to his name). At the combine in February, Jeff ran a very respectable 40 time of 4.44. I think Jeff has a very bright future in the NFL and will definitely create some buzz at the WR position. I see him in the 4th to 5th round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
I am not sure if I am sold on M-Rob as a WR, but if there's any year to switch to WR as an athletic qb from college, it' s in this draft class. M-Rob will probably be a 3rd/4th rd pick as either a WR or S. I really like him on the offensive side of the ball in a slasher like role. If he does well at WR don't be surprised if he's eventually a real solid #3 on a team.
Hank Baskett Wide Receiver | Senior | New Mexico Height: 6-2 7/8 | Weight: 224 | 40-Time: 4.49 Official Bio Strengths: Has tremendous size...Very physical and knows how to use his big frame...Is an excellent natural athlete...Has great hands...Will routinely make the spectacular reception...Great leaper who was the 2004 Mountain West Conference outdoor high jump champion...Can be a major threat in the red zone...Has excellent body control...Runs well after the catch...Plays faster on the field than he times. Weaknesses: Does not have elite speed or quickness...Is not much of a deep threat and won't run away from pro defensive backs...Needs to round out his game and refine his technique...Is not as good of a blocker as a guy his size should be...Has some trouble beating the jam at the line...Can run better routes...Missed some time as a freshman with a spinal injury that will need to be checked out by the doctors. Notes: Doesn't get the attention he deserves as one of the premier senior wideouts in the nation...Has everything you look for except pure speed and is a bit of a big school sleeper...Could potentially be a #1 receiving target at the next level.
Brad Smith will be twice the receiver Robinson is. And Robinson thinks he'll be a QB. I don't think you'll see him drafted until late.
Ed Hinkel would be a terrific possession receiver in the 4th-5th round. About 6-0 190, showed some impressive speed both at Iowa and the combine, and has great hands. Received very little attention his college career, but I wouldn't feel any discomfort saying he was possibly the best WR in the Big Ten last year. Travis Wilson from Oklahoma has some talent as well, held back by the shaky QB situation for much of the year though.
Great idea he would be a great sleeper at WR. Also a guy like Reggie McNeal who probably wont be a QB in the NFL could turn into the hines ward/randel el type WR.
Marcus Vick is 6'0", 216, runs a 4.42 40 and has a 36" vertical. He also played WR at VT in the 2003 season. There's a sleeper for you. Vick bashing begins.... wait.... wait.... Now!
Jason Avant would be a first rounder if he was faster. He has great hands, but he's similar to McCareins in terms of deep passes because he just doesn't accelerate. He'd be a dominant possesion guy too.
MARQUES COLQUIST!!!!! thank you, i caught him at the combine, he looks like a player from a raw school who just happens to have the tools that translate to the next level. plus physically hes pretty interesteing
yeah, i think he has the intangibles though. if your talking sleepers I think he deserves a mention. and someone said Brandon Marshall, hes the same thing.......except a physical threat at 6ft 4 1/2" almost 230.......decent speed but i think he'll use size for separation. might be a project or just might shine in the red zone in the NFL.
