In addition, we all know what a joke Gase and his CS staff was. The rookies probably got nothing from Gase and his staff. All things considered, I'm surprised the rookies have done as well as they have. That they have is a tribute to them, their character, and Douglas and his staff.
Becton's natural weight with the lifestyle he's used to may be 600 pounds, but he gets that down to 363 by doing everything possible? we just don't know.
It's cool @NCJetsfan. I have no beef with you or Becton, (of whom I am actually a fan), AND if Mekhi posts OR reads this board at all (since you NEVER do know who visits TGG), I apologize Big Man.
holy jeebus, he is a mountain of a man. 6-7, mid 360's in weight... Taking BOTH height AND weight into consideration he has to be one of the biggest guys in the entire league, no?
Becton is always going to have foot or ankle injuries when he's fat. He needs to drop weight if he wants to have a long career / play 16 games a year
If possible, I'd look to trade him now. Yes, he's great - when healthy - but I don't see him getting less injury-prone as he plays more snaps and gets older. Bite the bullet now on replacing him with someone else, someone who may not be potentially as good, but who is actually as good or better because they're healthy and play almost every down. And I say this even as I was happy when they took him over the other choices, but it was a calculated risk that doesn't seem to be panning out. Smart money knows when to walk away.
Did anyone else see the article that said Becton actually got disciplined by the team for his weight being too high last season? I have a bad feeling in my gut about this guy. I've seen a few things that have soured me on him. The weight issues, injuries, openly campaigning to replace Darnold on social media, etc. He just strikes me as an undisciplined idiot to be honest. I'm especially salty because I wanted us to pick Wirfs.
@REVISion so do you agree with @ColoradoContrails then? do u think we should cut bait on Becton now?!!
^^^if true, even @NCJetsfan you would have to admit, NC, that is a disappointment and a big red flag.
Well, it’s what he doesn’t say or what he likes to highlight. Cimini text “ on 7-7 Wilson threw an interception and nearly a second one” total truth. Still waiting to read that he also threw 4 TDs including a perfect laser to Moore. Cimini highlights negativity above all and brushes over a lot of positives. Not too balanced in my view.
Holy smokes! This is a HUGE overreaction imo. There's no way we should even be thinking of trading him.
For the right offer, yes. I wouldn't just dump him or give him away, but he isn't an "untouchable" like he might've been considered before.
When would be the right time - after he suffers a serious, career-threatening injury, or after he shows himself to be a less-than-FT player because of less serious, but still playing time limiting injuries? At that point he's proven to be damaged goods. Again, I'm not saying they should :fire sale" him, but if they could get the right value I'd do it.
