that would imply they want rosen or mayfield then? one of which will surely be there at 4 if they draft barkley. there is no reason to smokescreen darnold. if they take barkely the giants phone will be lit up like Christmas for teams wanting darnold. The giants are in a great position to load up on picks if they don't love any prospect
If they are choosing between Allen and Darnold, what if they want Allen? Then they would take Barkley @ 1 and Allen @ 4. It would automatically force the Giants hand IMO. 1 - Barkley 2 - Darnold 3 - Rosen 4 - Allen I think if the Giants take anyone it would be Darnold. They are apparently high on him. I don't think they want any other QB outside of that.
It's still not a smoke screen. they hold the cards. if they want barkely they could sign him today. It's possible for sure, it's likely why they are vetting the QBs. assuming they take barkely at 1, they are guarenteed 1 of the "allen, darnold, rosen" bunch at 4 if not a choice between 2 of them. If they take a Qb at 1, they likely won't see barkely at 4 because the giants could take him. If they feel Allen and rosen are just as good as darnold, they could do that for sure. The giants are tricky, gettleman is a wild card for sure in the draft, very little rhyme or reason. he did reach for mccafrey 7th overall last year, so he likes high pick RBs and barkley is way better then mccafrey and isn't a reach at 2. The giants are going "win now" mode for sure with eli at the helm, darnold won't help them this year or even next, it would make more sense to get an offensive playmaker for them. especially with the ODB rumors
Its a smokescreen if you keep talking up 2 players you have no intention in drafting at 1. They may hold the cards, but the Browns want to play games and perhaps even avoid a team trading up in the top 4. I am expecting Gettleman to take a QB. Regardless if one of the top 2 teams want Barkley its a win for the Jets.
I see what you mean, but the browns know the jets arne't moving. that only leaves the giants. they also know the jets are taking a QB. Your post would imply the browns want barkely 1st overall, and then either mayfield, or rosen 4th overall. the thing is one of those are guaranteed to be there at 4 already if not both. Darnold should be the first QB off the board, if the browns don't take him the giants will or trade out of the 2 spot for a team, that wants him. if by some grace of god they take someone else the jets will jump on darnold and the browns still get their pick. the only way it would make sense is if they only want rosen and would assume the giants and/or jets don't take him. no reason to hide mayfield, he'll be there at 4 if they don't take a QB at 1. any team who takes mayfield over rosen or darnold needs to be kicked in the balls hard. realistically allen and mayfield aren't even worthy of a top 10 pick let along top 5.
Where is Allen in all of this? Where is he going in this scenario? Because if the Browns want Barkley at 1; then Allen and Mayfield will be available at 4, not Rosen. The Jets will take Rosen, Darnold will go to the Giants. I don't think the Giants trade out in this scenario. Mayfield drops to maybe 5 at Denver via a trade-up or something. If not there, then further down.
They can't go Barkley #1 unless they're convinced NYG will take Chubb. We're getting ripped for trading 3 2nds to potentially land the 3rd QB. Cleveland would get destroyed if they settle for QB3 when they have a shot at QB1, as they should. Barkley most likely will be there at #4. A QB & possibly Chubb are more likely at #2 then Barkley.
I mean it depends on how they view all of the qbs. Perhaps they don't LOVE a specific q.b. Not enough to lose Barkley. If they want Josh Allen, why not take him at 4? He will be there. Who else would take him? In this scenario, the Giants tale Darnold as they are high in him. We take Rosen. It virtually locks the possibility of no trades in the top 4.

They are linked to allen, so he wouldn't be part of the smokescreen. You smokescreen by hyping players you don't like. They could fear the jets will take allen over rosen. It really depends how many and which QBs the browns like
With all the Draft Picks that the Browns have whats to stop them trading their 4 pick for the Giants 2 pick and taking both Barkley and Darnold?
If the Giants want Chubb they could do this and still get Chubb at 4 and gain picks - that of course assumes the Jets pick a Q/B at 3
Chubb isn’t an option for the Giants at 2. He’s a DE and the are going to a 3-4. He doesn’t fit the system. I believe the Giants will take Rosen or Barkley at 2 if they keep the pick. I’m almost certain that Gettleman will trade back with Denver or Buffalo and get a kings ransom. Denver makes the most sense because I could see Elway loving Allen.
