I don't see the harm in throwing him in either. We will be 1-9 at the bye; and I can't see this team winning 2 straight games let alone 8. And then comes the inevitable after bye loss which is a Rex standard, 1-10.
That had me a little concerned this past week. It wasn't a bye, it was just a long week. It still was in the back of my mind tho. Sure enough we came out flat.
You're right Vick signed a one year deal for 4 mil. Basically whatever Idzik does he can't do right by you. Obviously he can't sign everyone. I thought Vick was a good signing. Injury prone. Let's see how he does. He was supposed to be the backup. One year ago he was the Eagles starter and playing well. Cro- I wouldn't have signed him either.
This is where pure breeding comes in. The younger Simms can join his brother and father in the legacy that is the Simms family.
I agree. I also think Vick should had started game 1 and see where that went. Yes I like Geno and I still think he going to be a good QB. I've notice that a lot of Jets fan base give up to soon on a young player.
Geno had his shot, and it didn't work out. Now give Matt his shot and let's see if we need to draft 1 QB or 3.
I'm not going to say that I'm a "realist" because that's just a cover up to saying I'm negative. I can say that the season is 100% over for playoffs, and therefore I don't give a frig about Vic. The guy is gone after 8 more games, so f-him with all due respect. I want to evaluate young talent. I know it's horrible to admit, but we need to know more about the fringe talent like Simms. The kid may suck worse than Jamarcus Russel, but I still need to know for sure. Let him start by week 10 and just see if he needs to be released forever or if he has a role in backup or whatever. I just don't get the hate for Simms. can he suck more than Mogilla Gorilla? We suck. Let's evaluate and prepare for the future and see what shakes out.
Who? Who have we given up on too soon? Who left us then went on to be something? Name a player we gave up on in the last 10 years, if anything we hang on to bad players too long, hoping something will click... it doesn't click.
That would imply Brian Winters tears his ACL Day 1. Vick and Matt Simms are lucky that stiff is out for the year. I really hope the pass protection sures up itself and doesn't commit dumb penalties to fuck it up for Simms if or when he comes on in. Simms won't make anybody miss but if given somewhat of a clean pocket, we can actually evaluate the kid fairly. On paper tomorrow looks to get very ugly for Vick unless Vick works some of that old magic of his because Kansas City are among the league leaders the NFL in sacks and have some dynamic pass rushers like Houston and Hali who will spank our tackles.
So you think that Vick is worth 7-8 wins/season over Geno? I wonder what you think our record would've been last year had Vick started.
Start him, we have nothing to lose. Hey if he doesnt throw 3 INTs or fumble the ball 2 times, then we found a keeper!
I have no problem with starting him for the rest of the season, but if plays well, we haven't found a keeper. His days in the NFL are numbered and he's injury prone. WhyTF do people think that the Jets problems are all rooted in the notion that they have two starting NFL calibur qbs riding the bench but the qb that's starting is not NFL calibur? JH123, I know you didn't say that (and so it wasn't directed at you) but my generalization describes this forum.
Oh god we're at that point where we are clutching at the 3rd string QB and everyone is pinning their hopes on him...hmm me too I suppose. If he gets his chance add him to the the growing list of big 3rd string hopes.
Nope. Loved danny, but he would have been 4th in the depth chart at the time. Danny shined with the Patriots...who doesn't.
I would not be surprised if Simms wound up on the field today. Geno not throwing in practice and all. Maybe he becomes the third man. And Vick will probably get his bell rung
