Braylon just posted this on twitter:

@OfficialBraylon I love the jets and will do anything to stay here. I need the jet nation to speak on my behalf

Hopefully we can come up with someway to get him and Holmes resigned

We should start speaking for him.

we should resign both. Actually I wouldn't mind letting one of them go and getting Vincent Jackson.

but if they had to pick one I'd take Edwards.

Fuck VJax. If Jets had enough cash within the cap to sign that bum, they'd better hold onto Santonio.

Not even looking at the money issue.

But id be absolutely terrified of getting rid of a guy who has PROVED he works, for a guy who has had incredible numbers ... playing for a top 2 QB.

Braylon was a stud in cle with guys who are now absolutely burried on the depth chart in god knows where, and Santonio success with a young QB that wasnt very good for a while. (and proved he was clutch in the superbowl)

And youre talking about giving it up for a guy who has only had 2 good seasons playing for one of the best qbs in the league.

Only way id want Vincent Jackson is if we were gonna sign and trade both Holmes and Braylon for 1st and 3rd round picks, each.

    Aka not happening

My guess is the FO will do all it reasonably can to sign both Edwards and Holmes.

Having said that, as much as a great player Holmes is, imo Edwards is the better fit for this team. His run and downfield blocking are hugely important to the Jets' approach to the game. He also seems to have gotten to the point where his ability to hold onto the catch is better than average. He's physically tough, and can make the catch even when he's about to take a big hit. And on the sidelines.

Holmes can seem a bit boneheaded at times by comparison.

I don't think Tanny wants to deal with those agents again this off-season. I'm pretty sure he's been thrown off the free agent "draft board".

They're going to have a heck of a balancing act on who to let go and who to sign this offseason.

Best thing for the Jets would be a higher cap with the new CBA.

Fixed your post. In Tanny I trust but Harris, Holmes, Edwards and Cromartie are all big money players and we already have several big money players on the roster.

Eh, we'll see. The stadium naming rights are still up in the air so I'm assuming that's an enormous bag of money that'll reach Woody's door at some point.

As much as I love Cotchery, and as great of a team player as he has been, I think the FO is going to have to definitely consider cutting him and putting that money towards Edwards or Holmes. We have Patrick Turner waiting in the wings who I think they have some hope for, and Keller is basically a receiver.

    Here is my 2 cents"

Edwards: Bigger Target, Better beep threat, Better Blocker, Better Hands (this season at least), and if he gets in trouble again he will be lost for 4 games.

Holmes: Better Route Runner, Better YAC (More likely to break one for a TD), If he gets in trouble again he will receive a 1 year suspension. Also the thing to remember about Holmes is that he dropped the game winning Superbowl catch before he caught it, it isn't often that you get a do over in an NFL game.

I would take Edwards over Holmes due to his size and speed, but I would prefer to keep both if possible, we will have to see what the salary cap looks like after a new CBA is agreed upon.

My guess is that Edwards will come cheaper than Holmes. Holmes is gonna want top 10 receiver money.

Speaking of Santonio's mental lapses, WTF was he doing on the punt? That is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen a football player do. If it wasn't such an important game, I thought Rex should have sat his ass down. Also, while I'm at it, why does he have to think he has done something remarkable, every time he makes a catch for a first down. Act like you've done it before Santonio. He has a lot of growing up to do.[/I]

I think Edwards is the better all around player, but I'm not giving up on Holmes despite a couple of drops this year. He's still a hell of a WR.

I would rather sign BE and make sure we bring back Brad Smith, I think these two players are true and true Jets helping the team in many phases of the game.

The money we save on Holmes can be used on a DE or DT.
